"Generally less kids around. Mostly younger professionals working in and around downtown. Not the most kid friendly scene."

"We live in the Seaholm area near the Trader Joe’s. There is a common area in this development with turf grass for kids to run around. "

"Amazing family friendly area! Our kids play with many of the kids in the neighborhood. Families hang out together and eat together. This is a great location for young families. There are many family events downtown like first Friday and many others every month."

"Austin has one of the friendliest downtown areas for dog owners in the U.S. I've never seen so many places that are accommodating to animals, providing water, bowls, and even treats in some places."

"Downtown Austin is a mix of small-town feel with big-town attractions. We love our local establishments. It's easy to walk around, with green spaces scattered all over. And local bands play every week. We have new buildings constantly going up and festivals happening all year round. The downtown scene is changing dramatically, bringing in new concepts next to old standbys."

"Downtown is where everything happens. It's a nice balance of culture, music, and business—as well as government. The University of Texas is also just north of downtown, so that adds another dimension to this area."

"Downtown is busy and getting busier as more and more companies move here. Downtown does have good access to get north, south, east, and west. Traffic is pretty normal for a big city with 1 million + people. I moved here from California, and Austin is still better than that (SF area, LA area, San Diego, etc.)."

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHeadwaters has been a life-changing experience for our daughter and our family. From the moment she came home after her first day, beaming and saying, “I found my people,” we knew this was the right place. Over three years, she blossomed—not just academically, but emotionally, socially, and creatively. The school’s culture of trust, open dialogue, and authentic learning helped her grow into herself with confidence and joy. She especially loved the vibrant classroom discussions, the freedom to explore downtown, and unforgettable experiences like the Bioneers trip and jazz band competition in Philadelphia. We’re deeply grateful to the dedicated teachers and staff, and especially to the head of the high school, who went above and beyond to support her Spanish studies while leading the school—and welcoming a new baby! Headwaters was worth every mile of our daily commute from Cedar Park. It’s a place where students are truly seen, supported, and inspired.Parent Review11mo ago17 Reviews - Cathedral School Of St Mary
