"Commute is alright to downtown. Traffic at peak times is difficult and the roads are not in the best condition (burnet road in particular). "

"Although there are only a few families with young children on our street, the McCallum public high school is in our neighborhood. It is the home of Austin Independent School District’s award winning Fine Arts Academy. So it’s excellent for kids interested in music (instrumental and vocal), visual arts, dance, cinema, and theatre."

"Our yearly yard sale we have on our block. We are about to have it in about two weeks. We are all looking forward to it. We do it to get together not so much for the money so everything is priced very low. "

"There are no sidewalks on the side streets, but there’s a nice big park and decent sized yards for most of the houses. There are lots of other dogs here and it’s near Yard Bar, a dog park bar. "

"I’ve lived in the Brentwood neighborhood since May of 2018 and to be honest there has been more crime related incidences in this neighborhood than any other I’ve lived in Austin. I was born and raised in Austin & I’ve lived in 14 different areas, Rundberg included & Brentwood is still the worst in crime/safety."

"I've lived in this neighborhood for 10 years. The elementary school is wonderful, and there is a lot of community involvement. There is a festival each year at the park; a neighborhood deli and pizzeria, where neighbors gather; and a summer swim team at the pool You can walk to amazing restaurants like Barley Swine, Bufalina, Lick Ice Cream, El Chilito, and Little Deli."

"I think Brentwood is a unique neighborhood because it combines so many of the great qualities of Austin as a whole, without being overcrowded or trying too hard. It's hip, with great bars and restaurants, but also really family friendly, with nice parks, solid schools, and the children's museum nearby. It's grown a lot in the past five years or so, but is still on the edge of affordable. It's also just 10—15 minutes north of downtown, so you definitely still feel like part of the city."

"I currently stay at home with my son, but before having him I had a 20-minute drive into downtown during rush hour. If my car was in the shop, I could ride the bus, though that added at least another 20 minutes to my commute. My husband works up north, so he travels against traffic coming into the city, so it's about a 15—20 minute drive for him."

"This is a really great place to raise kids. Nice parks, great local swim school in the neighborhood. The children's museum is very close by; lots to do with kids of all ages. Lots of family friendly restaurants. Good choice of preschools, solid public school options with lots of parent involvement. It's a safe, friendly place to live."

"Friendly neighbors, great location - never too far from anything in Austin. Tons of personality in this neighborhood. Brentwood Park is a great place to spend an afternoon. If you're considering moving to the area, visit the Crestview Mini Max and check out Little Deli, those two places and their patrons are the epitome of living here."
