"I'm not exactly sure what is meant by walkability, there are several great little routes for leisurely strolls through breathtaking scenery, the ocean is about a 35 second walk, there's a state park within yards as well as a PGA caliber golf course, but if you want to walk somewhere for a drink or breakfast or a cup of coffee, you are limited to the stilted and pretentious and, naturally, overpriced, restaurant at castle hill "resort," but their coastal walking trail is mildly amazing, as are the views from both the restaurant and the lodgings and lawns there. I'm not a golfer, but I'm fairly certain that, at this point, much like season tickets for box seats at Fenway, someone has to die and will you their membership stock before you can begin to pay the GNP of some smaller nations as your annual fees at NCC. I s'pose if you are a member, it's a gorgeous and semi-quick little jaunt to the clubhouse, but I have never cared enough to inquire among the members I know and have no idea what the food or beverages are like there, but I'm willing to guess they are overpriced. Beyond that, you can maybe get a frozen lemonade (at about $0.50/oz.) from the Del's truck if it happens to be parked at pecker park. Any convenience, liquor, or grocery store, let alone a pharmacy means double digit miles, maybe each way. This is the literal southern end of Aquidneck Island (you can look across the Ocean and see Block Island), so most delivery people wont even bother making the trek, and a trip downtown is a good 20 minutes in a car typically (maybe 15 in winter, maybe 30-40 on big summer weekends or holidays, possibly an hour to travel Spring st. late on the monday of a long weekend. Not to mention that winter winds come tearing through here like nowhere else in the state. Generally speaking, ideal summer homes for retirees who can afford it, as walking in winter is nothing short of torturous, there's no nearby bus stop, and most of the neighbors are strangers/dislike one another"
