"There are tree lined streets and beautiful houses. The sidewalks are typically cleared in a timely fashion after snows."

"Lots of college students in the area. It’s typically safe, but sometimes a little rowdy. Most people are respectful and it’s a more diverse part of the city. "

"Shadyside is immaculately kept up. The public areas are clean and safe at night. I'm a small woman and feel safe walking alone at night. There are a lot of families here, and even though we are surrounded by colleges, the neighborhood has much more if a "family" feel than a "college" one. I love Shadyside!"

"The classical architecture that is a throw back to the turn of the century when Pittsburgh was at its industrial height. The shops and restaurants that are a mix of local and national. The lovely gardens that leave a fragrance in the air. The friendly neighbors."

"Shadyside is a beautiful and safe neighborhood. I’m a lifelong Pittsburgh resident and I want to note that the neighborhood is Shadyside. Please note that “west” is only directional and not an official neighborhood designation. "

"Neighbors are friendly and they have various weekly festivals during the year which include sales from their boutiques. Because it is so walkable you see people out at Halloween and Christmas time."

"If I could afford to live in Shadyside, I wouldn't choose any other neighborhood in the city. It's just the best in all ways: several huge parks nearby, minutes from universities, enough parking (though it's tough sometimes), tons of shopping, restaurants, and most of all the people who live there really care about it. This is Pgh's "chic" area. Very cool and urban but not uptight. If you're going to live in Pittsburgh, live in the east end - and from there, if you can afford it, live in Shadyside."

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI attended Winchester Thurston from 4th grade to 12th grade. I loved almost every teacher I worked with and felt very well prepared for collage. The school dealt with bulling well and taught the students respect and compassion. The student to teacher ratio was perfect for me and class sizes were excellent. I can say that i truly loved my experience at WTStudent Review7y ago7 Reviews - Ellis School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI graduated from Ellis, and the single year I attended was one of the best of my entire education, including college and law school. It has rather shocked me to read the negative reviews placed here, but from the poor level of literacy in the reviews themselves, I suspect they are written by a jealous and bitter person who could never make the grade at Ellis. That's life. Some of us are fortunate enough to always remember our time at this truly extraordinary school with something approaching awe.Other Review4y ago22 Reviews - Depaul Institute
