"There are lots of parks and schools. Restaurants seem to be kid friendly as well. It’s a great mix of people and cultures. "
  • Derek Smit
"There are many families in this area and lots of parks. Public transit family outings are easy to access as well. Lots of townhouse options as well. "
  • Katy Black
"Right in the center of the arts and cultural district of Portland, Portland State a few blocks down one way, Arlene Schnitzer the other way. It’s been fun living in iconic downtown Portland, don’t let anyone scare your about downtown Portland! "
  • Trulia User

  • Trulia User
"My commute is 25 minutes to Hillsboro, and 35 minutes home. Lots of semis and work trucks. When snowing or sleet the grade can be a little unnerving."
  • Trulia User
"This is a high crime neighborhood with less police presence/supervision than ever and more armed private security guards and retired military veterans strapped with automatic rifles and Kevlar vests patrolling the bar scene and roaming the streets in cars marked “Patrol.” The police occasionally come, we have a better chance of them turning up simply because we’re closer to their home base/beehive than they are by a lot "
  • Rachel D.
"I’ve lived downtown for 5 years and I’ve loved it. There are a lot of people suffering from homelessness in the SW area and parking is limited and expensive. "
  • Kenneth Z.
"There are lots of places to walk your dog and lots of coffee shops with outdoor seating areas and lots of parks"
  • Zena K.
"Might be difficult to take out to pee at night, a bit dangerous with a lot of houseless people as well as drug addicts walking around"
  • Maddyrtaylor
"Lots of young adults and adults in the area due to the college being nearby as well as homeless around. Wouldn’t say it’s great for small children but 12+ would be perfectly fine!"
  • Benjamin G.
"Farmers markets, food trucks, college events, clubs, and tons of random stuff going on just ask around! "
  • Park Ave renter
"It’s common to see people walking their pets. It seems safe, although a leash would be highly recommended to keep your pet even safer. "
  • Claudia S.
"Love the events and activities of downtown life. Even my kiddos love living here. We have everything within walking distance and there is always events for the whole family. "
  • Ajolynnwatts
"Visiting, it’s fine but not where I would want to buy a home. I have a family and it’s not very family friendly. "
  • Joshua r. S.
"I have lived in the area for a few years and Love it. so far so good. :) I just wish that their were a Grocery store in the Neighborhood and more Security :)"
  • Chowhoy
"Keep your children close by. Some of the people on the streets can be aggressive and verbally intimidating."
  • renatagowie
"Downtown has a lot to offer. You don’t need a car; there are a multitude of clothing stores, grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies, and movie theaters. The downside is that there are many people on drugs, not marijuana, but heroin or opioids."
  • Mariamurillo
"I don’t talk to the neighbors, but everybody seams to respect each other and mind their own business "
