Buckman

We are thrilled with our experience at Buckman Elementary! The classes are less than 25, the teachers are engaged with family life and communicate daily. My daughter is coming home showing off her art, her songs, her dance moves. Well-rounded education with a focus on art, in a public school setting. Win win.

I went to this school for 7 years. The elementary school teachers are great, with experience and are generally good with kids. I will say that some of them aren't good with involving parents, but that may just be a French thing. As for middle school, most classes are pretty good, we are a year ahead in math which is great, although some students who are at a higher level for math aren't able to have more complex problems. I will be straight up here: science is horrible. The teacher does not know how to teach, and lacks the ability to control a classroom. Curriculum is practically nothing, and the textbook teaches us. Spanish also isn't great. We haven't had the same teacher since third grade, so we've been taught a different dialect every year. Our most recent was an American man who had no idea what he was doing. Google translate was his teacher. Now the good things: since kids start from a young age, they form bonds with a lot of students and teachers, more so then at a normal public school. All classes except for the two I mentioned are exceptional and fun. You graduate being (at least) functionally fluent. The teachers are great, and the classes are informative and really fun. Overall this school is a great school, with small inconveniences. I recommend. I had an amazing time here these past 7 years.
