"Don't let your children out at night without an adult. The neighborhood might seem quiet but you never know who's around. Personally I don't go out at night but it just depends on the neighborhood. "

"Accessible, safe, trending. Lots of nice eating and shopping spots, parks. I lived in Williamsburg for 6 years when it was still up and coming, I loved living there and playing with my kids at the park. It has gotten extremely expensive though. "

"The area is generally safe, but would stick inside at night. Subways are safe, but there can be some suspect people down there. There is a brand new play ground in the area and see many children in the area. The area is certainly quieter than other parts of Manhattan. "

"Nothing makes this neighborhood special. It’s a gentrifiers dream & prices of groceries & everything else reflects that. There are impoverished neighborhoods here that are being raped by the business because of gentrification. This community it no longer for middle ground people. It’s either your rich or poor. "

"People who have dogs talk to each other and seem to take good care of their dogs. You usually see the same people walking their dogs often around the same times. People may not like that others may not pick up after their dog or leave the green bags on the floor. There are also not many trash cans around to dispose of dog poop."

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved to NYC at the end of COVID; I was looking for school options and relying heavily on reviews from this and other forums, which was really tough. We've been at Anna Silver for 3 school years now, commuting from Brooklyn, and I'm glad that we made this choice. In our experience with the school, and specifically the Mandarin Dual Language program:- The key staff - Principal, Parent coordinator, and school safety officers know and greet the kids by name every morning. - The principal and teachers are all outside at dismissal after school, and have been incredibly willing to chat when I have had questions or concerns. When I'm not at dismissal (and kids go to after school), teachers and staff have all been very responsive over email.- Within the Mandarin Dual Language program, the class sizes have been small (all below 20!) allowing for good teacher attention, and tight bonds to form amongst the classes. In my oldest daughter's cohort, all but 2 students and ALL OF the non-native speakers went on to Mandarin Dual Language middle school programs, which I think says a lot for the interest in the language and love of learning instilled. - There is a wide range of activities and programs brought into the school for arts and dance exposure. In my school search, I often heard variations of "it's not a good school, the test scores aren't great." It is worth calling out that the school has many students who are both recent immigrants and learning English. All parent communications are in English, Spanish and Mandarin. We've personally loved the diversity of the school, and the care that is shown to learning about everyone's culture and language.Parent Review5mo ago - Ps 110 Florence Nightingale

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNot impressed as I get the impression parents are not wanted inside the school unless there is a fundraising event. At every other elementary school parents /caretakers can enter the schoolyard or step inside to pickup or drop off their child, but not at this school/. Bullying issues are not addressed at all which is very unfortunate. The principal seems as if she wants her numbers to look great irrespective of any issues going on. I heard this but also heard good things but I am seeing the negatives are correct and appear to be true.Parent Review4mo ago - Ps 134 Henrietta Szold

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageShuang Wen School . If you are looking for a good elementary school and middle school for your children, you must pay attention to this. When you have questions or you support from school principal. The principal and the newly appointed assistant principal never reply messages to parents. Replying to emails and messages is the most basic courtesy, but we as a parents are not even treated with the most basic courtesy and respect. When we called the school, the school staff will just told us the only thing we can do is wait.Parent Review4mo ago - Ps 1 Alfred E Smith

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has great people who work there and care for the children. However, the administration is terrible. They do not care for their staffs overall well being. They implement programs that take time away from academics. They are consistently out of compliance and put things off on the staff meanwhile it was their oversite. The children are suffering as some of their needs are being looked over and pushed aside. There are children with behavioral issues who have done no work throughout the year. They do not meet their IEP goals and they are being pushed to the next grade. This is a disservice! I would not recommend anyone sending their child to this school unless they are asian because that is the population they cater too.Other Review1y ago - Ps 2 Meyer London
