Overall, the educators at HAL are caring and passionate. However, they seemed hobbled and unsupported by atrocious administrators. There is not much structure and there is a complete lack of consequences for bullies, which jeopardizes the safety of students and teachers. The teachers do not hold students responsible for their learning at all. My son was homeschooled and started HAL in the 4th grade—he was still testing at the 4th grade level in 7th grade. I ended up pulling him due to the bullying, horrible experiences with the "vice principal" (who is a complete joke), and.lack of accountability for learning outcomes. At HAL, my joyful boy became despondent and contemplated no longer being here. It was too much. We are back to homeschooling, and he loves learning again. He's almost at grade level again. I would not recommend this school to any parent who values education safety and sanity.
