"I see people walking dogs all the time, we’re right next to San Rafael park which has a huge dog park so this neighborhood is perfect for dog owners."

"I've not heard of crime in the area. No burglaries that I'm aware of and no drug dealing on the side walk in front of my house. Biggest problem on Ralston Street is finding a parking place for visitors. Don't understand some of the postings regarding the neighborhood. It's an okay neighborhood close to downtown and the university."

"I'm surprised by some of the comments. I've owned property in the area since 2004 and have never had a problem with burglaries or drug transactions. The major, continuous comments from tenants and neighbors is the parking on Ralston can be challenging. I still eat at the Port O Sub shop on the corner."

"There are too many college student drivers in the area. The sidewalks are nice and the park is located closely, but you have to be careful."

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur previous elementary school was rated 9/10. The classes were similar in size (approx. 20-21 kids per class), the campus only a few years old. Many kids left kindergarten unable to read, little emphasis on Phonics, there was some fun science and social studies but no phys ed and teachers had to rotate grades periodically. It was not a great experience. Peavine might have a lower overall rating (for now) and the campus is older, but it is well maintained and the staff is phenomenal. From the support staff who know each of the kds and make everyone feel so welcome, to the principal who is a visible, accessible presence, the active & fun PTA, to the outstanding teachers, Peavine is top notch. The curriculum is challenging yet fun, the teachers creative, resources available for all children. The teachers are open to a collaboration with parents and the kids are thriving. Kids get frequent smaller breaks as opposed to one longer lunch (this has been proven more effective for managing behaviors and retaining learned materials). The students alternate PE, computer lab, and music class. The school puts their money where their mouth is: I witnessed a child being harassed by a bigger kid - the school intervened at once and ensured the problem was resolved immediately and permanently. We are so very pleased we took a leap of faith and came to Peavine. Our kids are enjoying school and we are quite pleased with the quality of education they're receiving.Parent Review7y ago - Child & Family Research Center
