"North Newark, NJ aka Forest Hill, has very convenient access to reliable bus services and light rail services very close by to my residence. I walked 1 1/2 small streets to get to the bus stop to Newark Penn Station and connect to the PATH train to NYC. The bus cost $1.20 and PATH train was also inexpensive in comparison to driving a car, paying tolls, paying parking etc."

"If you can avoid living here, do. There’s currently a lot of drug sales/activity, trash filled sidewalks with syringe covers, drug dealers that sit on your car and mice infestations. "

"This is an Unsafe area with high crime such as drug dealing and shootings m. If you can avoid living here please do. The police seen short handed due to there being so much crime in all parts of the city."

"Please be very careful about where you move in Newark. The differences vary, block by block. My family has not had the most pleasant experience living here. It’s crime ridden with constant drug activity, shootings and criminals that disregard the neighborhood and neighbors. They litter and sit on people’s cars. We have lived here for a year and cannot wait to move out of here. "

"Diversified neighborhood. Its a hop, skip and a jump to many stores, restaurants, Nj Transit as well as a light rail. Convenient to local hospitals, fire and police stations. Close to many academic public and private schools. Neighborhood homeowners take pride in their homes."

"There are a lot of families in the area and it's close to landmarks such as the Sacred Heart Cathedral and Branch Brook Park. Also there's a roller rink in the park to keep kids off the street and out of harms way..."

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am writing to share my concerns regarding my son's experiences at First Avenue School My son was involved in an altercation where he was initially provoked by another student. When he defended himself, it felt as though the staff did not fairly consider his side of the story, prioritizing the other child's account instead. My son was injured during this incident when he was stabbed with a pencil. When he requested to see the nurse, he was unfortunately denied assistance by a teacher. This lack of support is concerning and raises questions about student safety.I sensed a troubling atmosphere of bias in how the situation was handled, particularly regarding the treatment of my son compared to the other student involved. It is disheartening to feel that my son's experiences were not taken seriously. The response from the principal and staff has been disappointing, and I believe there is a need for improvement in how they support and address student concerns.I hope that by sharing these experiences, First Avenue School can reflect on these issues and work towards creating a more equitable and supportive environment for all students.Thank you for your attention to these matters.Parent Review3mo ago19 Reviews - Shiloh Rainbow Academy

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy husband and I decided to enroll our four year old daughter in Pre-K at St. Francis Xavier due to its convenient location and reasonable tuition (just slightly more than Forest Glen's Pre-K program which is part of the Bloomfield public school system). We also loved the idea of having our daughter receive a catholic school education to help reinforce what we teach her at home. SFX has been absolutely wonderful! The Principal is really devoted to the school and making sure the curriculum is the best that it can be. One of the best parts is that the school is small, so it gives the kids an opportunity to form great relationships with both the staff and their peers. I definitely recommend SFX school! - Lucy LT.Parent Review10y ago24 Reviews - Salome Urena Elementary School
