As a former teacher and reading teacher specifically, it was disappointing that the teacher who taught the reading portion in my daughter's kindergarten class did not know how to pronounce/teach letter sounds correctly. There were many things that were taught wrong. Then, when she was in 2nd grade, a girl a grade above threatened violence and to "cause blood" to my daughter. I immediately went to the principal and in dealing with both him and the vice principal, got nothing. They didn't return my calls, and did not take this incident seriously at all. This girl rode my daughter's schoolbus and she was afraid to ride the bus. The girl was removed from the bus for 3 days. THREE DAYS for threatening my daughter! Administration is terrible and definitely doesn't take bullying/threats seriously. I promptly removed my daughter from the school and homeschooled her. My younger children will also never attend this school.

We recently moved to the area and one of the reasons we chose to live in Weddington, was because of the great ratings of Weddington Schools. Even still, we were nervous because our children attended schools that were top ranked (#1) in the state of Florida, so I was sure my standards would be high. When I tell you that Weddington schools have exceeded my expectations, I am not exaggerating. The teachers are incredibly intelligent, they care deeply for each child and the entire staff at the school is warm, welcoming and they instill values in these children that will go well beyond the classroom. In a world where there's a lot of uncertainty about the safety of our children in any public environment, I can confidently say that I feel incredibly safe at this school, in addition to the fact that they are getting a quality education to prepare them for the rest of their academic careers. I am so grateful to have found this schools, and to be part of this amazing community.

Last year was my daughters first year in school as a kindergartner. She was the only black girl in her class. I was not impressed with the lack of diversity. I wasn’t impressed with how her teacher was already trying to label her in class with her learning. It maybe an “A” school in academics however that’s is not all there is too education.
