"It’s close to good schools, elementary through high school. It’s safe for kids to walk and there are plenty of parks that are all walking distance. "

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageEdison has several advanced and specialty programs. Some programs at Edison are Career & Technology Education, Dual Credit Options, College In Schools (CIS), Architecture Construction Engineering – ACE, and Edison Entrepreneurship Academy. Students are supported and encouraged by the school and the community to set goals and make plans to achieve their post-secondary aspirations. Edison has several student support services such as, but not limited to...AVID College and Career Readiness Program, School Based Clinic, College Possible, Check & Connect Student Engagement Program, Restorative Advocates and Coaches, Collaborative Counseling Team, Academic Counselors, Social Workers, Health Office, Upward Bound Vision Quest, a College & Career Center, and more. Edison has a team that includes parents/families, students, and community members. The team collaborates in setting goals for the school, develops an action plan, and makes decisions for the school. The Edison Community and Sports Foundation encompasses Edison families, alumni, and current staff. The foundation supports and rewards scholars for their hard work and determination. Each year, ECSF awards 40+ scholarships to the senior class. Edison is an IB school. The IB Diploma Program is recognized as a superior education, preparing students to do rigorous academic work and succeed at post-secondary institutions around the world. The program encourages students to think from an international perspective while first developing an understanding of their own cultural and national identity. The emphasis on interdisciplinary learning requires that students study courses across six disciplines. The Program includes six IB subjects and examinations, 150 hours of CAS (Creativity, Action, Service), the Theory of Knowledge course, and a 4,000-word independent Extended Essay. The reason why I scored Edison a "4" for learning and teaching is because I strongly feel that all teachers and all schools always have room to strengthen and grow to best fit the needs of each individual student. I feel it is critical to have a growth mindset as educators and work along side students. It is critical to keep up to date with technology and the resources available to education (the tools and systems) to empower students to achieve their goals and uplift student voices.Teacher Review10mo ago - Edison High School - Sws
