"The annual Heritage Hill Picnic was a great event (hope they still have it). Also, it’s an easy walk downtown to the symphony, Civic Theatre, the public library, art museum, restaurants, and coffee shops."

"There’s lots of green space and small parks around the neighborhood. I would say the majority of the people living in this area have dogs so it is all very dog-friendly. There are events you can take you dogs to, most places have poop bags available, and everyone is very understanding of dogs."
  • Eric T.
"I have not participated in any community events while living in heritage hill. I enjoy the green spaces and walking through the neighborhoods with my dog"

"There are a lot of dogs in the area with parks near by for the dogs to run. There are a lot of outdoor restaurants and in the spring/summer/fall you can sit outside at the restaurant and eat with you dog. Everyone picks up after their dogs."

"The Heritage Hill neighborhood is a traditional historic neighborhood, but with all the amenities of the City at your footsteps. Professional sports, nightlife, restaurants, entertainment, museums, parks, hospitals, and schools are all within walking distance of this great neighborhood. With several nearby bus stops including the new silver line, the reach is even further. This neighborhood is one of the safest in the City and is home to a diverse population of students, young professionals, empty nesters, and an increasing number of families with children. The homes are as diverse as the population. Many of the homes are from the late 1800's to mid 1900's, however there are a handful of home constructed within the past decade. This neighborhood is also protected as it is the City's larges historic district. This means that your neighbor's home is likely to stay a residential home for decades to come, and despite popular opinion, you don't need approval to repaint your house and the City Staff is every easy to work with. Overall, Heritage Hill might just be the best neighborhood within the City of Grand Rapids. We are proud to call it home. "

"Heritage Hill historic district is a diverse neighborhood with young families, young professionals and college students. The large well established area is a mix of multi-family and single family dwellings among several shopping districts including downtown Grand Rapids. Many parks and low violent crime make for a pleasant walkable neighborhood. "

  • Ramul A.
"What a great place to be! I ride my bike down here from my home in a very bland suburban neighborhood, and I can instantly feel the radiance of my face matching the beautiful combination of colors I can see on houses, gardens, and people. The homes and buildings are AMAZING, the people are diverse and wonderful, and the cool neighborhoods of Grand Rapids are just a short scooter ride away. Downtown is 5 minutes, Heartside is 10, Midtown is 10, East Hills is 10, Eastown (one of the coolest places in Michigan) about 15-20. Once I get a better job and have 6 figures to spend, this will be the first place I look. Hell, look at me already; I'm not even close to buying a home and I still browse the great homes in Heritage Hill. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!"
