Deeply saddened by how much this school has gone down. Education no longer seems to be the priority here. They can’t seem to get good leadership that’s cares about quality education in there. I was excited for my child to attend at first but it quickly became a nightmare. Stay far away if you can. Move into the district for Timbergrove or Owings Mills Elementary before you move to a zone in Reisterstown that will require them to go to such a circus.

I wanted to wait until closer to the end of the year before I wrote a review as this is my children's first year at this school and there is always a "honeymoon phase". So I wanted to make sure it was truly going to last...and boy did it! I have nothing but good...no, GREAT things to say about this school. No school is perfect but honestly, Deer Park has FAR exceeded my expectations. The principal is friendly, the new vice-principal is caring and compassionate (and I was worried because last year's vice principal who went to another school was a gem...so I thought it would be hard to replace her, but they truly made a nice selection.) The PTA sponsors events throughout the year and parents always feel welcomed at meetings (although more should attend) and the teachers (though I cannot speak for all) are terrific. I am not going to rave here about a specific teacher that one of my children has because I want to be fair since I am sure all teachers there have their outstanding qualities, but I have rarely seen a teacher go out of her way as she does. She is a credit to her profession and I keep thanking my lucky stars we got her. Deer Park is a well kept secret...definitely deserving of 5 stars.

I know when reviewing your asked to rate 1 out of 5 but I wouldn’t even give it a rating of 1.. my son has attended this school since kindergarten, he’s now in second grade. The first year was ok with no problems 1st grade was very very different and now 2cd grade is horrible. My son is dealing with bullying almost every day since the first grade. I feel like the support that they claim to give is just to save their jobs or just to show on record that they tried to do something. The things that they are doing has not been effective for my son. I know that we can’t blame everything on the schools/ staff itself BUT the children that are there are horrible and the staff gets irritated when they see a parent at the school everyday . My son is experiencing the bullying in the classroom, hallways bathroom and school bus.. remind you guys he’s in second grade, he’s being bullied by 5th graders. He was beat up on the school bus by a 5th grader. The footage was gotten from the bus company and still this child is able to ride on the bus..and not to mention that when I called the police they couldn’t or wouldn’t help because they are minors, so I had to stop my son from riding. It’s awful! I know that everyone’s experience is different but if you’re thinking of sending your child think twice. Now I’m going through the process of getting a special permission transfer and there sending me through it even with that.. I’m calling schools and they’re saying that the special permission deadline has already passed. Soooo what’s the point of it being called a SPECIAL PERMISSION TRANSFER.. I’m confused.. I just don’t know what to do.

My son has been release to the minor with his teacher and principal assistance been hiding and avoiding situation. Thank god I recorded everything soon will hit social media and I will not let this slip until other parents learn about their kids safety at this public school

Cons: Tons of behavioral problems with students, fights in the cafeteria every day, tons of bullying, and too many inexperienced teachers with no control of classrooms. Consider a private school: Arlington Baptist or Sacred Heart. Do your child and family a favor. Do not enroll your children at New Town ES.
