5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a father, I’ve been very impressed with this elementary school and the direction it’s heading. The teachers are dedicated and genuinely care about their students. They take the time to really know each child — recognizing their strengths, supporting their growth, and making sure they feel safe and valued. It’s clear they care about more than just academics; they’re helping shape confident, well-rounded kids. The school promotes an inclusive environment where students feel welcomed and respected. There are also meaningful opportunities beyond the classroom that allow kids to grow, build leadership skills, and explore their interests.Since the current principal stepped in, there’s been noticeable progress. Communication has improved, expectations are clear, and there’s a strong commitment to raising the bar and moving the school forward. It’s reassuring to see leadership that is truly invested.Overall, this is a school community that cares — and that makes a difference.Parent Review2mo ago10 Reviews - Fort Washington Forest Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is a HOT MESS! My child has an IEP, but there are only TWO teachers in the entire school who are qualified to teach these students. They have several "aides" who are just glorified babysitters and are unable to TEACH the students whenever the teachers are out (which is often because they have to be present at all of these IEP meetings for each individual student). My child was sent home the FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL with 3 different and distinct bruises, one of which was on the forehead. No note. Not seen by the "nurse" (they SAY they have one, but I've never seen or heard of this person even though I am up at the school at least 3 days EVERY WEEK because the teacher calls me non-stop to pick up my child. And I JUST found out that she isn't supposed to be doing that AND that she never notified anyone else that she was requesting that I pick my kid up!! The staff lies daily. I could ask them about the same exact incident on different days of the week and get a different answer every time! No one knows what is going on. Ever. Every question has a cagey and indirect answer. They're HORRIBLY disorganized. No real pickup/drop off process. Safety (aside from the rampant bullying--almost every parent I have spoken to has a story) is a huge issue. I have seen no fewer than 4 children run out of the side doors without anything to stop them. And what's worse is the staff would just WALK to retrieve them! WALK! As if they can't get far away. Oh yeah, there are no REAL gates around this school. It looks like they have gates, but they do not connect to anything and actually do not keep anyone inside. Please do not do it! Run away! Go private if you can because this school and its foolishness is just not worth your child's happiness or future success.Parent Review2y ago11 Reviews - Potomac Landing Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI don't understand how such arrogant, rude, and overbearing people can be principals in schools where there are so many children and where they know they have to deal with many problems. My daughter is being bullied at school, and today, for the second time, there was another incident with the same girl who bullied my daughter before. I went to Tayac Elementary School... the principal practically treated me like a criminal and told me that I was endangering the children and that I couldn't be there unless I had a clean record. It makes me so angry that being Latina doesn't mean we're criminals... all the children were leaving through the hallway, and I told my daughter that we should wait for all the children to leave so we wouldn't be in the middle of them, and Principal Latonya started calling me practically a criminal, dangerous, and a threat... when at no point did I even say a bad word or raise my voice for her to insinuate such things.Parent Review4mo ago14 Reviews - Word of Life Christian Academy

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageExcellent. The language immersion program is far beyond what I imagined. My daughter started in 2016 as a 1st grader and she was speaking fluent beginners Spanish with my Latin cousins. By no means is she an expert, but she knewStudent Review8y ago7 Reviews - The Messiah Academy
