"Too many cars in blocks and gun shots in the middle of the night. Neighborhood is up and coming but not there yet. "

"This neighborhood is convenient to so many great parts of Atlanta and Decatur with easy access to multiple route options via car or bus. The yards are large and there are big beautiful old growth trees. The neighbors are quiet and kind. "

"The people are fun to talk to and get to know in passing. Our community is the place I grew up in so it’s nice to be back home as an adult. East Lake is really special!"

"There are not many families in this neighborhood. There is a small lake near by which is nice to walk. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. "

"Parks are always packed. Lots of dogs off leashes. Fleas in the grass of my apartment complex - I have to drive my dog to the parks for all bathroom breaks. Can’t risk an infestation...again. "

"Nice houses and people with plenty of parks and trails for walking after dinner. The schools are questionable however. It is close enough to midtown atlanta and shopping is convenient. The closet Costco is less than 30 min "

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter attended Columbia Elementary for Pre-K in the 2024-2025 school year and it was a wonderful experience for all of us. The administration, faculty, and staff all impressed me, and I am grateful to them. The school is located in a beautiful little enclave of Decatur, and having it near my home has been a blessing. There is a lot of love at this school!Parent Review9mo ago8 Reviews - Snapfinger Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLack of staffing. My daughter attended this school in:2nd grade (2023-24). Her teacher retired 2 months into the year, only to have various substitutes until the last 3 months of school where they finally placed a teacher who ended up retiring once the school year was complete.3rd grade (2024-) The initial teacher stopped showing up 2 months in and these children have been left without an adequate, CONSISTENT teacher for almost 3 months and counting.Unfortunately this is the ONLY elementary school in my “zoning area”. This school is full of shenanigans, doing a great disservice to its children. There is no PTA to voice my concerns, just a dismissive staff. Also, if whomever is reading this goes to this school, please be sure to check the employees ID badge. All though name badges are mandatory in EVERY school district, they seem to be either optional or hidden here. If unfamiliar, you’d NEVER be able to tell the difference between staff, parents, etc.Parent Review1y ago3 Reviews - Kelley Lake Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageToney Elementary is a very nice and bright school. The teachers here are very patient with the children. They also encourage students to be respectful to others and also they work. I like that the teachers take there time in to teaching and dealing with the ones that are bad they take there time to regroup the children so they can go back to class and be willing to learn, and I myself as a parent talks to them and they listen. They can improve by letting the pta do more stuff for the children and different thing and just the building it self need a little bit of fixing up.Parent Review12y ago5 Reviews - Ronald E McNair Discover Learning Academy Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy experience at this school is by far the worst ever, they have no clubs for the kids. There is nothing about this school that stand out that make them a S.T.E.M this is mostly all black school but not teaching the kids anything. There are no learning field trips, school food is just bad the whole school is just bad.Parent Review8y ago4 Reviews - St Peter Claver Regional Catholic School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSPC isn't what I would simply call a school. It is a place where children become life-long students while also growing as a whole person of faith and service. Teachers truly care about their students' development in all areas, not just academics - which is so important!Parent Review1y ago9 Reviews
