We absolutely love Big T! Big Thompson Elementary has been an incredible school for our family, and we feel so lucky to be part of such a supportive and welcoming community. The staff has been very consistent since we started 5 years ago with turnover being from district budget cuts or retirement. The school is small and therefore has a very close-knit community feel and the staff plays a huge roll in that!I have two very different boys, with very different needs. One of my children doesn’t fit typical social norms, and instead of struggling, he truly thrives here. The environment is kind, inclusive, and free from bullying, which has made all the difference for him. The staff was very quick to communicate an eye issue my son was having that I didn't even pick up on. They were also quick to help my other son with his speech needs. Academically, the school offers a wide range of strong programs, including STEM and an excellent EL program. The gifted program is especially impressive and provides meaningful opportunities for advanced learners. There are also great clubs and enrichment options that help students explore their interests such as Robotics club, 100 mile club, yarn club, and chess club. There is something for everyone there and the opportunity to start your own clubs. The location is so unique and beautiful, with plenty of wildlife and outdoor space that is actively used and continually improved for learning. It creates a unique and engaging environment for students. My kids feel safe here and enjoy going to school every day!
