Sylvia Park

This is our third year at Topanga Elementary, and we love it. The school is warm, welcoming and animated. There's a great spirit and energy here, very much in keeping with Topanga itself. The most important thing to us is that our daughter loves school, and she does here. The classes are fairly small. The teachers are experienced, warm and friendly, while still maintaining structure. They work with students individually as needed, and they try to make sure that everyone is keeping up. I've also been happy with the LAUSD curriculum so far. The school also offers a lot of enrichment activities that you won't find at most schools, since they are not paid for by the district, but rather by fundraising -- science, art, gardening, technology, PE, plus a teacher's aide in every classroom. Parents are also very involved here. Being in this school truly feels like being part of a community. We feel so grateful to have it.

Chaparral is an incredible school. The teachers are dedicated to the students and community. The strong parents association helps to support the teachers and administrators year round to cultivate a love of learning and provide additional resources when needed. The school focuses on the "whole student" growth mindset which is awesome. Chaparral has specialists for PE, music and art, as well as a media clerk. There are opportunities for parent involvement and a high level of ongoing communication to parents from the teachers and staff. This is a fabulous school!
