"It is an absolutely beautiful part of Pasadena. It is private, wooded, and close to freeways, etc. I think it might be too quiet for me. "

"great area, quiet and peaceful, but close enough to the freeway and to old town pasadena for entertainment and nightlife, only traffic is in the morning, and some sound from the freeway at night but other than that 5 stars"

"I live here and it is an exceptionally safe and beautiful neighborhood. These are older classic homes that are beautifully maintained and this street is quiet and out of the way. It is also part of the prestigious Prospect Park neighborhood."

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy expirence has been wonderful at Chandler. I started in middle school, and they have a wonderful summer program for all of the new middle schoolers, were they have half days of the bridge program were they connect with teachers and other new students, so that when they start in the Fall they have already made so many great connections. Let me tell you this really does make being one of the "new kids" SO much easier. This school is defently a challenging enviornment, but the teachers really care and will help you if you advocate for it (they also teach you to advocate for yourself). This is the perfect school for High school to college prep, I have learned skills I will keep with me for the rest of my life. In the middle school they have an incredible resource specialist, Mr. Nan, who works with not only kids with acommidations (Chandler is great with neurodiverse acommidations) but anyone who needs help organizing, study tips, or HW help, he will help. And so will any teacher really adding to the amazingness of the school. The school never outwordly says this, but it is true in the very best ways possible, Chandler is a traditional style education, but still a progressive school, in the prefect mix. They have an excellent DEI program, students learn about different cultures and heritages. At all-school assemblies there is often cultural dancers and presentations that come to preform and educate us outside of the classroom. They are many kids here with financial aid, as well as those that pay full tuition, socioeconomic diversity is getting better. Race and ethnicity diversity (and education on it) is very prominant and supportive and accepting of all. The statistics some of these school review sites have, are also outdated chandler has the most accurate data done by them on their website under ABOUT and Students we serve section. There are PE classes daily for all grades, sport tournaments in 6th grade, and in 7-8th grades there are A and B sports teams that play other schools, as well as inturmural teams open to all "C team". Chandler is a K-8, but that is one of it's best things, there is no influence of the middle and lower schools by seeing the 9-12 graders in the same school, you can really see how much more themselves K-8 kids are than K-12 kids. I have learned SO much here, especially in the sciences and math programs which are the best in the area, the amazing teachers, who care, challenge and are commited to students daily. 7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI would highly recommend anyone with a Kindergartner consider another option, because this school is not it. The teachers duck and dodge real issues and concerns. They bait you in when you go on the school tour, but when your child is enrolled it’s not what you get. All smoke and mirrors. This is my 5 year old first experience going to school and I thought being that the school is so small if would be a great fit. Well the teacher has not one nurturing bone in her body. She’s antisocial and very stand-offish. My oldest son had her as a TA when he was in the 2nd grade at another Charter School. She was ok as a TA, but teacher I really don’t feel she’s qualified. They took my baby on a field trip and he had an accident and they kept my 5 year old soiled in urine for an hour. No one called me or anything, they just allowed my baby to stay soiled in urine. Despite him having a change of clothes in his back that they requested when I enrolled him be made available in case of an accident. I am livid! They dismiss issues like this without any regard the trauma these types of issues cause. I will be filling a complaint with the school board because the actions taken or the lack there of is unacceptable!Parent Review5mo ago17 Reviews - Aveson School Of Leaders

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have been at Aveson for 5 years. Started during unprecedented times (TK on zoom), which seems like a lifetime ago. Real talk: Aveson has many challenges as a small Charter school in a town with declining birthrates/enrollment across the board (because let's face it, kids are expensive), but I cannot say enough about this community. It has been a safe space for my ND kiddo in ways that continue to give me hope every day. The community of teachers, support staff and families is unmatched. My kiddo and their peers have grown together and support each other in ways I never could have anticipated.Parent Review1y ago45 Reviews - Odyssey Charter School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had a few children at Odyssey and I have been very happy. They feel safe at school and have thrived. My oldest child went onto a PUSD high school. He above grade level for every class. Odyssey is a great whole child learning environment. Academics meet your child where they are at. You have the same teacher for two years (called looping) and it has been the biggest blessing to be able to have a teacher truly know your children. Every teacher cares for each student. Despite what that other review said, they DID NOT open after the fires. We were placed at other locations. They thoroughly cleaned everything and have constant monitoring but several institutions. I’m very happy I sent my children here. They are growing up to be wonderful, happy, confident children.Parent Review7mo ago24 Reviews - Sequoyah School
