I feel badly for the person who said her kids are too smart for the school and others are stupid. It's people like this that make the world a not-so-great place to live. Children of all abilities can learn from one another. My children had a wonderful "real world" experience at Nelson, which prepared them to excel at Kastner and Clovis West. Challenging your child can happen in many places, not just the school. I believe the extra programs available to Nelson students caters to children of all abilities. There's orchestra, band, sports, D.I., GATE, ECL, Student Council, Classroom Music, Computer lab, among others. I don't know of too many schools in Fresno that have these things. Nelson is a place to belong and a place to learn about getting along with others. Rude behavior is not tolerated. It is addressed quickly from my experiences. Do children still behave badly sometimes? Yes. This is the real world. This is when we talk to our own children at home about setting good examples for those who don't have the same advantages in their home. Let's work together and not try to divide people. It takes the whole community to make a school great!Other Review10y ago5 Reviews - Pinedale Elementary School

Teachers, Staff, Principal all care about the child individually and will go above an beyond to help each child.Parent Review4y ago6 Reviews - Kratt Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have been with this school for the past 17-16 years. All 5 of my kids have gone here. I was the classroom mom a few years. My husband was too. We chaperoned field trips with our kids. I served on the PTA for a few years. The last of my kids just promoted yesterday, so it was bittersweet saying good bye. I appreciated the support our family was provided over the years. I was in the know about my kids, their grades, this behavior and any issues all school year. Front office ladies are great. They are quick and also on top of everything. Mr. Kelp has been there for 2 years and I really enjoyed seeing him and Ms. Montano partake in a lot of activities with the kids, teachers, admin and parents. One teacher who stands out is Ms. Rosenberg. AMAZING. She loves her job and her students and it shows. A lot of these teacher still love their job. Which is beautiful to see. I like and appreciate the on site Bulldog house they have. Which is where kids can go to talk to an adult if they have an issue, a dispute. There is an on site psychologist too. I think giving the children at a young age a safe space is such a great thing. Because we don't know what the kids deal with at home. PTA hosts some great events. Dances, movie nights just to name a few. Kratt was my village in helping raise my kids and I am forever thankfulParent Review11mo ago11 Reviews - Starr Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you choose this school, pull your students out when they reach 2nd grade. We had bad experiences in the intermediate grades. Because we stayed involved and asked questions, our sons 2nd grade teacher ended up ignoring him when he raised his hands with questions. Some of the teachers at this school are not parent/student friendly. My son felt very uncomfortable, especially in his 2nd grade class. We were supportive, not causing problems. They do not want parents in their classrooms, which makes one wonder why? I had a choice between Starr and Malloch in the beginning. I wish I'd chosen Malloch. MY children did not enjoy the K-2nd year at all. And when it’s very hot, they still send the kids outdoors and also when they are doing their jogs event, they don’t care if it rains in the ground is muddy. They still wanna continue having the event where a kids are going to need extra shoes, extra socks it is pointless For the kids to participate in event like that which the PTA has plenty of time to schedule the event, knowing the weather is way ahead and they should’ve canceled, but they rather not. Also, the parents that participate with the PTA are very rude.Parent Review7mo ago10 Reviews - Souls Harbor Christian Academy
