My daughter has been attending Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles since kindergarten, and she just started high school! This school, since Day 1, has been very good to our daughter, and our family. They are kind and respectful (although, admittedly, I was a little scared of Mme. Kabbaz until I got to know her. She's really awesome). The small classrooms are a blessing! Especially since our daughter didn't attend pre-school or daycare, it was important her first school experience be a positive one. My daughter never quite picked up French as well as others (probably because none of us speak French at home), so she transitioned to the International Program in 3rd Grade, where her classes are in English, but she still has lots of French classes, so she'll continue to grow in the French language. She also took Chinese (Mandarin) for about 3 or 4 years, and just signed up for Spanish. LycéeLA is also a great supporter of the Arts. In addition to Theatre Kabbaz with its international performances, there are great art classes, drama, choir, and cinema courses. And a myriad of student-run clubs offered in high school; I was so excited to hear that my daughter joined the Global Outreach Club, and she just signed up to do Set Design for the Drama Club. More than that, the teachers, supervisors, and staff GENUINELY care about our kids. My daughter is very VERY particular about food but wanted to join the lunch program. We signed her up, but she doesn't like things with sauces or toppings. So the school actually sets aside a separate box just for my child without the sauces or toppings. They have been doing this since middle school, and I am just so surprised they are continuing this for high school. They TRULY care. And I am so proud to be involved in the annual Community Service School Drives (Food, Toy, and Book Drives). There is such a great sense of community and family--- IF you open yourself up to it! Get to know your kiddo's classmates and their families. And if you are frustrated about something, there is someone there who will listen and care. It's a great school filled with wonderful, caring people.
