7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved back from Europe specifically so our children could attend Eaton Elementary. The recent renovations have created a beautiful, modern learning environment, but what truly makes Eaton outstanding is the people. The teachers are skilled, caring educators who know each child as an individual. The staff are warm and competent, creating a supportive atmosphere throughout the building. The afterschool program is well run and very convenient. The parent community is equally impressive. Families are engaged and supportive, and the HSA goes above and beyond to enrich the school experience through their dedication and hard work. Our children are thriving here in every way—academically, socially, and emotionally. Eaton is everything we hoped for in an elementary school and more. We couldn't recommend it more highly.Parent Review4mo ago39 Reviews - Hardy Middle School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI rate Hardy as a Great Middle School. It reflects, embraces, and has built the character of the school around the diversity of DC. There is no other middle school in DC with the breadth and depth of course offerings as Hardy. It is a smaller school while still having enough students for all students to find friends. I highly recommend Hardy!Parent Review6y ago7 Reviews - MacArthur High School

"I always see folks walking their dogs, and my current building (Calvert Woodley) is pet/dog friendly. Lots of wide sidewalks and it’s close to Rock Creek Park. There is also a dog park on the Adams Morgan side of the Duke Ellington Bridge. "

"Great, tree-lined neighborhood. Just be careful around the zoo at night during events as it's been getting more violent. "

"I’ve lived in the neighborhood for almost 24 years. I found it hard to meet people because my children never lived with us. We love to walk in the neighborhood and other nearby neighborhoods. Since we moved to a SFH, in 2010,we know more neighbors in the hood. "

"At the crossroads of everything Cleveland Park, Adams Morgan, and Dupont Circle have to offer; with its own restaurants and shops; plus a jogging/bike trail into Rock Creek Park; peaceful, tree-lined sidewalks; great public schools; neighbors of all ages and ethnicities; and easy walking distance to Metro, Circulator, and other bus routes; Woodley Park has everything one could want in urban living. I've lived here for almost 10 years, and while I'm always keeping an eye on the DC market, I've yet to find a neighborhood with more value for my money than right here. "

"I lived off Cortland PL for almost 5 years in a studio apartment with my (rather large) dog. Having a beautiful spur off Rock Creek park just out my back door made the small living space very liveable. I would take my dog out for walks in the park almost every night after dark, and never once felt concerned for my safety. There were almost always neighbors out doing the same. There is a real community feel to the neighborhood, and the mix of single-family homes, duplex/semi-detached homes, condos, and apartments gives the neighborhood a refreshing diversity. Yes, even the lower-end apartments aren't cheap by any means, but the disparity in incomes is still enough to maintain a good mix of people at different stages in their lives. On Friday evenings in the Fall it was common to find neighbors and the occasional passer-by sitting around the picnic tables in the park talking and enjoying a glass of wine -- usually provided by one or more of the folks in the million-dollar homes across the street -- or playing a game of boccee ball. You'd usually find 15 or so people out, always unplanned, and never exactly the same group. That made it very inviting -- it never felt like you were crashing someone else's party if you just showed up. It was really beautiful. The Cortland/Devonshire neighborhood is just far enough off Connecticut avenue to give it a very peaceful feel, and a nice separation from the crowds headed to the zoo on the weekends. It's not right in the heart of entertainment/nightlife central, but it is just a ten minute walk away. I gave it three stars in that category, but I see the separation as a good thing. (You really are 10 minutes from the Uptown Theater, the Smithsonian Zoo, and a great selection of restaurants, most with outdoor seating to be enjoyed 9 months out of the year. The clubs and bars of Adams Morgan are about a 15 minute walk away, just over the Duke Ellington bridge. In a word or so: beautiful, friendly, community, peaceful, fun"
