6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMontebello Gardens Elementary is a very small community school. Because of this, everyone knows everyone. With that factor in place, favoritism within the staff to certain children is very obvious. My child was hit by a special need student, and it was shoved under the rug. She was bullied by another child, who then was named student of the year and awarded. If the school was so great as parents, we would be recruiting other children, but I'm not going to tell other parents to bring their children to be belittled by the teachers and bullied by the students. Now, let's talk academically about combination classes? Take the high lower grade and the low upper grade and put them together. How does that benefit the children? Yet all the students who were praised by the lower grade teacher got placed in a regular class. That's setting my child to fail. That's unacceptable.Parent Review11mo ago19 Reviews - Montebello High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDespite being Hispanic myself the racism I’ve experienced in this school is horrible..and the school does not care at all not only are the students immature but the teachers as well the amount of good people in the school that I know, I can only count them with one hand. The teachers casually cuss and most of the time support racism/slurs/bullying/sexism in fact sometimes they even engage in it. Anytime a student does one of these things RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM it’s just silence or laughing. I’ve even experienced assault and racism by one of the teachers! Ive reported these incidents for my first two years in this school and nothing was done they don’t even make any announcements or warnings and when they did they watered it down!! The only thing I like about this school is the very few teachers and friends that are actually mature and care. I’ve literally cried over the racism I’ve either experienced or witnessed. The school claims to care about bullying but always defend the bully when it gets bad to the point the victim tries to defend themselves! Not once have I ever felt truly safety when I was in the school, I would always be aware of my surroundings because people will either take pictures of you to mock you or try to steal from you. Am glad I don’t go to this school anymore because this is by far the worst part of life.Student Review11mo ago8 Reviews - Check out schools near 4739-4739 Ivy St.

"Some dog owners are very careless. Their dogs get out or they walk them off leash. I recommend always being vigilant when walking your dogs"

"I feel safe because I am in a gated community I would be more careful outside of the gates. However, the local shopping is good selection and well kept. People are friendly and helpful I enjoy this city and the surrounding areas as well "

"Not always the safest place to raise kids, it would be preferential to live in a gated community if you would like to live in Pico, or live relatively close to a school. Otherwise, the neighborhood can feel a bit unsafe otherwise. There are often gunshots heard and police cars making arrests. The area gets nice the closer you head towards Montebello. Just something to keep in mind as you look for nearby houses."

"The parks have a lot of events that invite the community as well as surrounding communities. We have concerts, activities, and even a farmer’s market. It’s great to see everyone come out and get together to have a good time. Not a lot of communities have this and hopefully we will be a good influence for other communities to do the same."
