Room Description
I'm looking for a new housemate! The place is open now, move in through Aug 1.
The apartment is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath on a quiet street in South Berkeley, about a 10 minute walk to the Ashby BART. The room is L shaped- the larger part is 9x11 ft and the extra space is about 6.5x5.5 ft, which can hold a full size bed or serve as a workspace. The room has a large closet, two large windows, and is in the back of the house overlooking the garden. (The room is currently empty, the photo is of the last furniture configuration.)
The rest of the apartment is cozy, with a gas fireplace in the living room that heats the place up nicely in the winter. The bathroom and two bedrooms have electric wall heaters. Electric is included in the rent, and other utilities are usually around $60/mo which includes internet, gas and extra recycling (Ridwell box). There's a backyard shared with the upstairs neighbors and the ADU in the back. The block is residential and family oriented, and it's generally relaxing to live here.
The rent is $1185/mo, with a $1000 deposit. The landlord will require an application and a credit check. Sorry, no pets per the landlord, and no furries at all per my allergies! The arrangement is a sublease with me, the master tenant.
I'm a 50 year old woman, I'm an LCSW working as a therapist for two non-profit organizations. I've been living in this apartment for 11 years, and I'm hoping to meet a mature, communicative housemate who wants to create a friendly and welcoming home while also preserving the peace and calm that this place provides. We have no television here, and we've usually kept agreed upon quiet hours in the evenings and early mornings. I like to have friends come by and my partner stays over at times. Of course you'd be welcome to that as well!
Send me a message if you're interested. I look forward to meeting you!
I'm looking for someone who wants to stay longer term, but the sublease with me is technically month-to-month.
