"I believe dog owners would not their dogs being petted without the owner permission it’s safe to ask questions before just assuming it’s okay to touch "
  • Trulia User
"This side of town seem to be in war. There is a lot of gun Violence in the area. The school systems are terrible. there are some decent blocks. And you have plenty of Transportation these are the only two things about south shore that’s fair. "
  • Trulia User
"The parades and etc. It also has picnics and other Special events. It’s a nice neighborhood and also "
  • Trulia User
"very nice neighborhood. lots of local businesses. 79th street gives the place a bad reputation. But from 77th back it actually a good place to live"
  • Trulia User
"I’ve lived in the neighborhood for over 20 years and have seen it grow into a neighborly environment. Neighbors are friendly, responsible, and dedicated to keeping our neighborhood safe and clean."
  • Trulia User
"We have parks and beaches very close where we have picnics and the small museum on 67th has outdoor movies "
  • Saunder99
"Working class neighborhood, close to shopping and public transportation. Many churches every block has individual character "
  • Lynnette H.
"yes because there is a big park and pool... children play together and make friends the parents should know if one another"
  • Dmcmom60636
"There are schools close by and public transportation all around you to get wherever you need to go. YMCA, BANKS, RESTAURANTS, GROCERY STORE, MUSEUM AND THE LAKE FRONT VERY CLOSE BY."
  • Dmcmom60636
"There are schools, parks, beach, ymca, banks and restaurants that are in walking distance. It's right by Lakeshore dr and public transportation is very accessible. "
  • Latasha T.
"My commute is reasonable, however there may be violence or uncomfortable areas during the commute that may be hard to avoid. There are not enough resources in the area either."
  • Angela W.
"Good place for dogs. Not much to say other than that. They have a park here as well which is cool. Wouldn’t raise kids here tho, schools are rough, full of gang activity "
  • anneka
"It’s a great neighborhood haven’t heard no gunshots or anything it’s a lot of working families no hanging out."
  • Annek E.
"I like the neighborhood quite block kids can play in ride there bikes out in takes walks I only live here for several months in love it already my mom stay in the same area"
  • belinda r.
"I never liked the neighborhood to much shootings break ins bad kids i couldn't wait to leave never going back to c ity nowhere"
  • John C.
"MSI , University of Chicago and Rebuild foundation. Parks and recreation spaces. Open space and near the lake. "
  • lakeeya W.
"everything is great. it can get a little wild. but me and my family stays in or we will go out for recreation. "
  • Martina S.
"This neighborhood has always been trouble since I was a child over 40 years ago. I would not suggest this as an environment to raise an animal let alone a family. What's "Unique" about the neighborhood is that the streets are some of the worst ones in the city as far as potholes are concerned. Furthermore my cousin was murdered and found dead in a garbage can less than 2 years ago and the suspect hasn't been charged in her murder but is in jail for another murder."
  • Shanicrowe
"There aren’t many community events. Some things happen at Jackson park, the arts bank, and Dorchester artist housing. "
  • Chasda m.
"South Shore Fine Arts is a good neighborhood elementary school... and about your only quality choice. Do your research! "
  • Patricia T.
"I lived in my neighborhood for 19 years and I enjoy living here. Transportation is great and restaurants, grocery, and department stores accessible."
  • John C.
"The mix of blue collar and white collar lifestyles with in close quarters. Great building you are surprised to find in a bedroom community "
  • Olayinka M.
"The close Proximity to Lake Michigan makes the neighborhood appealing. I also love the South Side YMCA as a place for kids to play and for parents to achieve fitness goals."
  • John C.
"My family has owned this two flat since 1940’s. I am very much excited about the re-gentrification of the area"
