8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThere is nothing special about this school or its approach to learning. It is a very diverse school in terms of student diversity, economics, family values. Some parents seem very engaged while some have no involvement at all. The PTO at this school badly needs new faces and friendly faces too. Some on the PTO are not at all parent friendly. There are some behavior issues with students and that makes classroom learning difficult. I am a mom to 3 children and could never recommend Watertown Public Schools to anyone.Parent Review5y ago - Watertown High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWow, the reviews of WHS were so poor that I felt obligated to leave a review. I had an extremely positive experience at WHS and I felt incredibly prepared for college. I attend an Ivy League university and my peers and I feel better prepared than some of my Peers from Nobles, BB&N, Milton, Philips Andover, Choate, etc. WHS offers an excellent selection of AP classes with amazing teachers, if you think your child is not well prepared (which so many are not) it is a reflection on them not the school. There is a very large amount of students who put minimal effort into class and therefore get nothing out of it, perform poorly on the SAT, and have trouble being accepted into universities. There is also a cohort of students who truly value their education and make the most of their experience at WHS and go on to great universities. Students and parents need to take some initiative and stop blaming the school for their own shortcomings. Thank you to all my teachers at WHS for providing me with the best education and experience I could have asked for.Other Review4mo ago - Watertown Middle School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis has been the worst experience for my family moving to Watertown with a middle school student. This admin and staff do not care one bit about the students their safety of well-being. TheY call every interaction between students “incidents” and give no opportunity for learning or growth. There are fights and racism and I am genuinely concerned for my child’s safety every second he is in that building. There is no diversity in the staff and they do offer a nurturing environment for you g adults to burgeon into great members of community. They are breeding more bitter kids to match the miserable administration. I wish I knew this before moving here my son was happy at his old school and never had a problem. Just know your kids will never have a chance to learn interpersonal skills in Watertown.Parent Review2y ago - Check out schools near 61 Howard St #5.

"Love the feel of the neighborhood. Close to Boston. Also close to plenty of stores and restaurants and shops, but far enough away from downtown to still have a neighborhood feel. very safe feel. definitely love all of the older homes"

"Used to live in Watertown. Just so convenient to everything. Easy to get to Boston - minutes away. Good buses. Some really nice restaurants and nightspots, if you want to stay local."

"This side of Main Street is very close to an industrial area on the river (2 blocks away) with several empty old warehouses. A revitalization started several years ago but the economy put an end to it and there are a few condo complexes unfinished or partially empty. Watertown school system is not as good as neighboring Newton, Belmont or Cambridge. Overnight parking ban November through April creates a serious season issue. Much of Watertown doesn't have curbs or sidewalk and many older residents paved their front yards which takes away from curb appeal. Professional couples w/out kids and 30 somethings are a growing percent of the population but there's very limited entertainment options. Wal-mart may be coming to 180 Arsenal St. area"
