Description

Eldora Road is one of my favorite streets in Pasadena. Not because I've called it home for the last 22 years but because of the sense of community that exists here. The assortment of character homes, meandering sidewalks, vintage streetlights, and mature trees are unique and beautiful, but the people that live here are what make it truly something special.Back in 1925, architect Glen Elwood Smith designed a Spanish style home at 575 Eldora Road. The two-bedroom floor plan consisted of 1,656 square feet on a large 8,047 square foot parcel. It is unknown if his original design included the front sitting area off the living or the 2nd bathroom connected to the rear bedroom, but regardless those have certainly enhanced the home. The formal entry includes a Batchelder tiled faux fireplace and built-in bookcases and opens into the spacious living room. The living room offers large picture windows, another Batchelder tiled fireplace, and hardwood flooring. The sitting area includes Saltillo tile and a window that extends from one side of the wall to the other. Off the central hallway are the two bedrooms and full bathroom. Each room is nicely sized with original double hung wood windows and wall sconces. The kitchen is updated with granite counters and wood cabinets and has access to the California basement. The dining room is quite charming with multiple windows and views of the rear yard.Both the front and rear yards offer drought resistant plants and are ready for the new owner to bring back the green grass and award-winning landscape. The rear yard also includes a Pergola, a sitting area, and a two-car detached garage.

    "We live on Glen Ave which is a quiet street with really good neighbors all around. It's much more attractive and well kept than South of Washington or immediately North of Woodbury, although North of Woodbury has been gentrifying extremely rapidly especially since Covid started. There are quite a few churches and a Buddhist temple. This area is very convenient with really awesome supermarkets like Super King and Vallarta that have much better produce options than Vons or Pavilions, which are also nearby. It's extremely quick to get to Trader Joe's as well. You can easily access outdoor and water activities at the Rose Bowl, the arroyo, or Descanso Gardens and there is a 24 hour fitness at Woodbury & Lincoln if you want to stay indoors. The kids from the high school walk home through the neighborhood but they generally behave themselves and it hasn't been a problem. Street parking is easy but guests parking overnight in Pasadena need a $5 permit that you get from a kiosk at the fire station on Fair Oaks."
