We have had a very positive experience at Clarke Middle School. Since Mr. Maxwell became principal and the school was rebuilt, there has been a noticeable difference in the environment. The school feels cleaner, more organized, and overall happier for both students and staff.Our two oldest children attended CMS, including participation in the gifted program, and we now have another child who will attend soon. We are genuinely excited for them to be part of the school community. While no school or program is perfect, we have consistently found the teachers and staff to be caring, hardworking, and deeply invested in the students.I do think some countywide disciplinary approaches can occasionally make accountability more complicated for students, but that is not unique to CMS and certainly not a reflection of the dedication of the educators there. The teachers and staff work incredibly hard, often while supporting children and families facing very difficult circumstances tied to broader economic challenges in our community.Clarke County schools often receive criticism that I do not feel is fully deserved. There are strong communities here, many children are thriving, and there are educators showing up every day because they truly care about kids. I would absolutely choose CCSD again, and I would send my children to Clarke Middle over and over.

Unfortunately there is a culture of bullying at CCHS that starts at the top and ripples out to the staff and student body. Until that issue is addressed, this is not a safe school. Fighting and exclusion of others are common. Social emotional support is thin.

We were very disappointed with our experiences at this school. Our kid was not supported only walked through response to intervention and never directed towards accommodations or screening support. There is also a bullying problem.
