About this House

175 Hendrix Avenue is an award-winning, Lori Bork-designed Modern Scandinavian farmhouse tucked into the heart of Pulaski Heights - one of Athens' most beloved in-town neighborhoods known for its wooded setting, historic charm, and true sense of community. Thoughtfully designed to reflect both the historic mill houses and industrial architecture that define the neighborhood, this custom-built home perfectly blends modern sophistication, warmth, artistry, and livability. Flooded with extraordinary natural light, and intentionally designed around the orientation of the lot and the arc of the sun and moon, the exposed wood-beam vaulted ceilings, concrete flooring, solid wood interior doors, and warm natural textures create a striking aesthetic. The chef's kitchen features custom cabinetry, granite countertops, a stunning wood island crafted from locally sourced spalted Beech with book-matched live-edge grain, Wolf range, Fisher & Paykel refrigerator, Cove dishwasher, built-in microwave drawer, and a spacious walk-in pantry with custom shelving and a sliding wood barn door. There are custom artisan details everywhere, including locally crafted woodwork, shelving, metalwork, and architectural finishes. Outdoor living is equally exceptional. Multiple private patios, extensive landscaping, mature groves of trees, custom fencing by Stroudman Woodworks, string lighting, and a second-story balcony spanning the length of the home create an incredibly private indoor-outdoor retreat that feels worlds away while remaining moments from downtown Athens. The fenced yard and durable concrete flooring make the home especially pet-friendly and low maintenance. The luxurious owner's suite feels like a private treehouse sanctuary with hardwood floors, custom closets and built-ins, a coffee bar, private balcony overlooking the wooded ravine across the street, and a spa-inspired bath complete with a skylit oversized shower, dual vanity, elegant tilework, and sleek modern finishes. The additional bath is equally refined with stunning designer tile and thoughtful details throughout. Designed with both beauty and efficiency in mind, the home also includes solar panels for significantly reduced utility costs, programmable Bluetooth-enabled Nest thermostats, remote-controlled window shades on the main level, abundant storage, a highly coveted one-car garage with storage racks, and additional off-street parking. Recognized by the 2014 Athens Heritage Foundation Award for Outstanding New Construction in a Historic Neighborhood and featured on multiple home and garden tours, 175 Hendrix is more than a home - it is a thoughtfully crafted architectural experience in one of Athens' most vibrant and connected communities. Just steps from restaurants, galleries, shops, Creature Comforts, The National, Cine, and all that downtown Athens has to offer, this property delivers the rare combination of privacy, design, walkability, and community.

  • Jackson Oglesby
"Lots of activity and opportunities to interact with other dog owners. Tends to be a very dog friendly city."
  • Trulia User
"Everything is typically within a fifteen to twenty minute drive. The big loop around the city gives easy access to get to all different areas of town, including UGA, popular shopping centers, and restaurants. "
  • Gina Ashley
"Trick or treating on Boulevard! Love it here so much! Could not pick a better area to raise a family in"
  • Jyoung530
"Very safe and kinda friendly but most folks do keep to themselves or interact with their own family. There is only a very light traffic of homeowners in my subdivision but unfortunately there are no sidewalks or play areas for the kids. Folks walk their dogs in the street. Children play in their own front or back yards it seems. You rarely see or hear them out and they won’t recognize you as a neighbor. This is unfortunate but typical of neighborhoods in this area and in the South."
  • Grady Thrasher
"Very walkable, great shops and restaurants, beautiful old homes. Decent number of rentals, which has positives and negatives. "
  • Trulia User

"It’s a pleasant 2 mi. Circle in the middle, across which a road runs through it. Giving you several choice about how much to wak. Traffic runs slow. Walkers are easily ridden around with plenty of room. "
  • Trulia User
"A lot of college students or otherwise young adults. More grad students than undergrad. A few small families. "

Just outside of Normaltown and in one of the best school zones in the county. Knottingham is a very special place to live."

"Bike ride to work. Little Over a mile. Beautiful quiet streets and a sidewalk on the busiest road. Only a couple lights along the way."
  • Chuck
"Barber street is usually covered in plastic cups from Greek rich kids parties. They also think it’s fine to just congregate in the streets and park like Barber is their driveway. But I do love boulevard and surrounding area. Have lived in this area for 17 years. I hear the school district is great. And being able to walk to downtown is fantastic."
  • Thomas B.
"Pool, dog park, playground, close to Walmart, Aldis, McDonalds, Kroger. Great maintenance department."

"Awesom town! Not too big and not too small. There are plenty of fun things to do almost every weekend "
  • Si Z.
"my neighborhood in normaltown. cute, expensive, but fun. I love my neighbors. people's yards are landscaped really well also. "
  • Ronnie A.
"More and more people are living here but the roads are staying the same size since the past 30 years. Traffic can be horrible going to work in the morning, and getting off work, from 4pm to 6pm, forget going anywhere. Depending what part of Athens you’re in, will effect your view on Athens. There’s a poor lifestyle and there’s a wealthy lifestyle to this town. Slowly Athens is updating its lifestyle to fit wealthy families. It sure is a college town, and traffic is much better once the college students are out of town. I’ve lived here my whole life so I know where to go and where not to go. I’ve seen girls/college girls out walking in places they shouldn’t have been walking (out of town ppl don’t know any better) but they think since it’s a college town it’s ok, and that’s where they’re wrong. Overall nice town but way too crowded. "
  • Brooke K.
"recovery fest and athfest are great plus all the vintage shops are quaint and not chained out. lots if life bands"
  • Prissymissy678
"Weekend events and UGA events.convenience to restaurants and shopping. Neighbors are not neighborly. Too much crime and police do not do their jobs."
  • Samantha E.
"Our current neighborhood isn’t that great. There’s not a lot of courtesy that gets displayed between residents, it’s in a sketchy part of town, and there have been a few crimes that have occurred here in a short amount of time. Would not recommend raising your children here. Also the public schools are terrible."
