Beautiful, but funky, artist-restored 1890s farmhouse on lush, very large property (1+acres) located just blocks away from downtown Athens, UGA, Mama's Boy, several parks and the N. Oconee Greenway. The 2nd bath has colorful folk art tile, a skylight that opens, barnwood wainscot, wood walls and open rafter ceiling. Another bedroom has all wood walls with a ceiling painting. This bedroom has a private room (office/study) made exclusively of reclaimed heart pine that is quite lovely. Another bedroom has a a built-in window seat as well as a newly refinished loft that can serve as a sleeping space . Yet another bedroom was once a sunroom and opens to a private stone courtyard. The house has 2 hot water heaters and 2 separate HVAC systems. There's a rocking chair front porch with swing. Huge lower lot is an ideal location for gardening and recreation, and is bordered by a creek.

 On this property, there's also a 100 year old barn that has been converted into a very cool 2 bedroom home opening in the front to a sweet bricked courtyard and in the back to an immense backyard. Also on the property is a meditative space fashioned as a pergola.

    "Very safe and kinda friendly but most folks do keep to themselves or interact with their own family. There is only a very light traffic of homeowners in my subdivision but unfortunately there are no sidewalks or play areas for the kids. Folks walk their dogs in the street. Children play in their own front or back yards it seems. You rarely see or hear them out and they won’t recognize you as a neighbor. This is unfortunate but typical of neighborhoods in this area and in the South."

    "Barber street is usually covered in plastic cups from Greek rich kids parties. They also think it’s fine to just congregate in the streets and park like Barber is their driveway. But I do love boulevard and surrounding area. Have lived in this area for 17 years. I hear the school district is great. And being able to walk to downtown is fantastic."

    "More and more people are living here but the roads are staying the same size since the past 30 years. Traffic can be horrible going to work in the morning, and getting off work, from 4pm to 6pm, forget going anywhere. Depending what part of Athens you’re in, will effect your view on Athens. There’s a poor lifestyle and there’s a wealthy lifestyle to this town. Slowly Athens is updating its lifestyle to fit wealthy families. It sure is a college town, and traffic is much better once the college students are out of town. I’ve lived here my whole life so I know where to go and where not to go. I’ve seen girls/college girls out walking in places they shouldn’t have been walking (out of town ppl don’t know any better) but they think since it’s a college town it’s ok, and that’s where they’re wrong. Overall nice town but way too crowded. "

There’s not a lot of courtesy that gets displayed between residents, it’s in a sketchy part of town, and there have been a few crimes that have occurred here in a short amount of time. Would not recommend raising your children here. Also the public schools are terrible."
