Description

Welcome to Duncan Street: future home to three renovated luxury lofts in up-and-coming Upper Lawrenceville. Adventure seekers, this one's for you. Here's the plan: one unit (far right unit, 5228 Lotus Way) will be constructed entirely from shipping containers, while all three units will feature the containers as indoor-outdoor rooftop terraces. Still with us? This modern wave of architecture has recently gained popularity on the East Coast, and we're celebrating accordingly. Designed by award-winning architect Peter Margittai, The Cargo Lofts are a fusion of practicality, efficiency, and straight-up swag.

Built in 1900, the space itself is a former warehouse that's packed with character, charm, and outrageous potential. As we transition the building into separate units, we're paying homage to its roots by preserving the original 12ft ceilings, exposed brick, finished concrete floors and overall industrial feel. To complement those old-school elements, we'll add black stairs with raw metal railings; stainless aluminum doors; the works. Throw in a few indoor-outdoor rooftop terraces (complete with pools (optional), wet bars, and incredible views of Downtown Pittsburgh), and it’s settled: the party is coming to you.

"I easily commute to the north shore via car, bus or bike. Getting to the strip district is an easy straight shot and the same goes for downtown. Honestly I don’t think the commute could be any easier"

"I moved into Upper Lawrenceville about 4 years ago. The neighborhood has improved since I have moved in with more professionals living here and the commercial district on Butler getting some of the best restaurants in the city. Having said that, this is still a blue collar neighborhood. People watch out for each other, but it takes a little bit of time to get to know everyone. On the down side, public transportation is still iffy and accessibility overall may be difficult for those who cannot drive because of the steepness of the hill. If you do drive, it is ten minutes to shadyside, twelve or fifteen to downtown (depending on traffic), and about twenty to squirrel hill. The housing stock is mixed in quality, though there seem to be a good number of complete rehabs improving the general character of the neighborhood. The central lawrenceville shopping (only a couple of minutes away) is one of the most interesting in the city with a cider house, a bowling alley that has band, several restaurants, the best bakery in the city, lots of clothing and stores with knick-knacks, antiques, new record stores, the best lesbian bar in the city, and a good deal of nightlife.
