It's a short walk to the train station for travel to other San Diego areas although most guests stay and enjoy all that Encinitas has to offer. The casual lifestyle invokes visions of endless summers, beautiful beaches, year-round gardens. Residents know how to enjoy life and spend most of their time outdoors since the weather is nearly perfect. Encinitas takes pride in their historic downtown & vibrant community. Beginning in 1928 the La Paloma Theatre(5 minute walk) hosted the opening of the Cohen s And Kely s in Paris Attended by Mary Pickford (Americas Sweetheart)and other Hollywood starlets who continued to grace the stage, more recent being Jay Leno, Timothy Leary and I attended the performance where the band Switchfoot was discovered. They still hold a once a year surfing benefit at Moonlight Beach and perform in the afternoon where a hug stage is set up for them and it s all fun.

    "The neighborhood is a mix of retired people and new families. It’s not as communal as other cities I’ve lived in with many people driving in and out of the community and then staying inside or in their backyard. The gates parks prohibit kids meeting there unless they belong to an association. It’s odd to see a gated park that children cannot play on , meet new kids that live across the street, etc. I’m used to larger cities where there are more public places to gather, meet your neighbors, and create a stronger community."

Package theft does happen and people don’t clean up after their pets well. The rent is also really high around here. "
