6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm noticing that most of the reviews for Reed come from IHP parents and students. We do like this school but are NOT in IHP and I notice quite a chasm between IHP and other academies. The school overall is very nice but there is not a sense of community in the other academies. Moreover, there is a stratification at this school that is very disturbing. Hard to miss that the richest kids/families are all in IHP and all other students are then scattered into different academies. Is this because only well-off families have highly gifted students or because only well off families can afford tutors and can advocate for their students? Not sure about the whys of this, but it is noticeable how much more cohesive and nurturing the IHP program is as compared to the other tracks. It also seems that they have more exclusive events including IHP parents arranging get-togethers and even a dance night on campus just for IHP students. An exception to all of this though, Walter Reed has an amazing music program that is a feeder school into North Hollywood H.S.'s music studies. If your child is interested in music or already plays an instrument and wants to continue on, this is definitely the school for you. The classes are amazing and the opportunity to play an instrument priceless. This is where you'll find community outside IHP.Parent Review8mo ago - Toluca Lake Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe're so grateful to be a Toluca Lake Elementary family. I attended this school in the 90s and now our son is in the PAL (preschool) program. The school community is the "village" I always hoped our child would grow up in. The great culture starts from the top: the principal Mr. Daniel puts so much time and attention into being present with the kids during school and after-school events, and keeping parents informed and included with regular updates. It's evident he cares deeply about running an amazing school. Our son's teachers (Mrs. Vasquez, Ms. Lopez, and Ms. Castillo this year, and Ms. Inai and Ms. Christy last year) are kind, caring, and so passionate about instilling a love of learning and independence in the kids. Our son is thriving in the school environment, and especially loves library day, visits to the organic garden on campus, and Fun Friday with a classroom dance party. We get daily updates, photos, and videos on the ClassDojo app with weekly updates on what the kids are learning in class. We have a great relationship with his teacher and the other special education teachers on campus. It's wonderful to see so many adults greeting our son by name each morning. The older kids at this school are so supportive and kind to the preschoolers and each other. The PTA is fantastic at keeping the community feel with regular events at neighborhood restaurants and on campus. We are especially impressed by the unmissable Around the World multicultural event, a potluck with dozens of different ethnicities and regional foods for kids to try. We were initially nervous about sending our son to public school, but now feel very lucky to have access to this caliber of community experience, cultural diversity, and play-based education without the expense of a private school.Parent Review5mo ago - East Valley Senior High School

"Live and work here. Moved here from Hancock Park. Can't think of moving elsewhere. Try to avoid the West side, too much traffic, short tempered drivers, and no where to park. Shopping, driving, etc. are a huge hassle. Here in Toluca Lake close to Vons, Ralphs, Gelsons etc. It has been called the Beverly Hills of the Valley, but B.H. has the same overcrowding, traffic, haughty folks as L.A. People that have lived in Toluca Lake end up buying another home in Toluca Lake, that's because it's a really great place to live!"
- Linda Z.

"Close to the NoHo Arts District and public transporation. Easy access to Studio City, freeways, studios & Burbank. Great area for dog walking."
