3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageJohn R. Rogers High School has the largest racial/economic/disability diversity in Spokane County. With these specialties, John R has impressive AP testing and a high graduation rate. Our successes are due to our Hillyard Attitude for WE are John R and our uniqueness makes us kinder and stronger. If the outside world could see the crushing weight of challenges that affect the students here, everyone would be in awe of how marvelous this place truly is.Parent Review6y ago - Regal Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children are new to this school. My son was targeted by some kids who didn't make him feel welcome. After contacting staff, they were able to eliminate any possible bullying. Now about my daughter, I approached her teacher several times to explain her intellect. The first time I felt ignored and the second time. The teacher was very defensive because I continued to approach her. I simply wanted to share with her my daughters prior experiences and achievements in past classes and other teachers. I was disappointed by the teachers reactions toward my concerns for my daughter. Regal does not have compassion or motivation to work with intelligent children, this is true! I am considering changing teachers or possibly the school.Parent Review10y ago - Shaw Middle School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is ran like a prison. Constant student fighting and vaping and the staff are careless. The students are guilty as soon as they walk in the school and they are expected to act like they are adult. The safety officer is lazy and the sits around. The education is far below what they would get at nearby schools because the students are so out of control. Both of my kids have been assaulted seriously at this school and the school never reported either incidence to me.Parent Review6mo ago - Check out schools near 5011 N Stone St.

"i no longer live here. it used to be a young family, a starter neighborhood, but the urban crime and urban decay, most houses are rentals with landlords that have no pride or care"

"I personally drive 25 to 30 minutes to get to work. I am stuck it’s worth it for me because of where I work. But the great thing about the Hillyard area is that there is tons of public transportation to get you just about anywhere you need to go. "

"They walk dogs and have them in the yards. I do see some dogs get loose sometimes. I actually almost hit a puppy on Crestline the other day. All the traffic slowed down to keep it safe for the puppy as it was in the street. "

"We have the Hillyard fest at the end of each summer. It is a fun family event that has local people come together and entertain the neighborhood. We also have a farmers market and a Chalk Walk. "

"I moved into this neighborhood last November and in less then a year my immediate neighborhood has changed drastically. It is gentrifying all by itself..a factor that delights me. There was a house full of tweakers next door but they are (all) gone now..thank u sheriff..now if we move the free food distributions to a more evenly spaced location this neighborhood will rock!!!"

"Hillyard Festival, Hillyard days, Jim Hill Days, Forth of July Parade, many other small community minded events and services ate offered or located in yhis historic part of Spokane WA."

"Most families that live here have at least 1 dog. It is my feeling that the dog ownership in this area is directly related to the low property crime. We have lived here in this area for several decades and have yet had any property crime."

"I love how just a block north of where I live it is like country living. People own chickens, horses, donkeys etc. and most of the properties have more land than most of the average properties in town. So you get country living smack dab in town. How awesome is that!?! The only thing is that everyone wants to live there so the homes that do go up for sale are expensive and go fast. It’s a great place to live though:)"
