I am really perplexed at Great Schools rating of a 6 given it’s very high test scores of 9. Moye was rated an 8 when I moved here 3 years ago with very little change. They are rating Central higher, at a 7, with MUCH lower test scores and a similar equity and progress rating. Central has a higher progress rate at 45 percent vs 43 percent at Moye… but it is difficult to have a high progress rate when so many of your students test extremely well at the beginning of the year. My children had a positive experience at Carriel, and they genuinely enjoyed their teachers. The pandemic and restrictions it imposed upon education was hard for both students and teachers, but I’m amazed at the creative ways that Carriel teachers tried to engage with their students and continue to connect in a post-pandemic world.
