Jo Ann (the vice principal) is a bully and demonstrates passive aggressiveness towards other adults, which creates a very toxic environment. The principal doesn't even respond to emails or phone calls. The teachers are nice and seem to genuinely care about the kids. If the administration fails, how can the school function? This place is setting itself up for a potential lawsuit in the near future with this "I don't give a care" mentality.

I attended Pattengill for three years. Last year I graduated. My first experience was okay, but my last year there ruined it for me. There was a lot of bullying that the teachers didn’t seem to notice. The special education teachers were not being kind to the students with disabilities, and the school wasn’t very well organized. That caused me to dread going to school each day. I had a substitute teacher for almost half the year, and my teacher was disrespectful. Overall, I do not recommend Patteengill.

I am a 7th grader at Tappan Middle School, and my experience has been amazing! First off, there are a variety of fun after-school activities, clubs, and sports to choose from. Next, the teachers and staff are wonderful; they are kind, hardworking, and always make school enjoyable! Lastly, there are so many engaging courses available, and the electives make the school day much more fun. So, if you are looking for a middle school in Ann Arbor, I highly recommend Tappan Middle School!

I like this school, though it could use some renovations b/c it looks pretty run down. This is understandable though because it's such an old school. Other than that, the school is pretty good.

I feel so lucky my son goes to Bryant (currently in K), as it really has a sense of community and I’m so impressed by the positive culture for learning there. Mr. Jamar Humphrey is an amazing Principal and leader, he handled an issue with my son so thoughtfully and professionally with the goal of helping him learn the right thing to do. My son comes home and most days he says “I love learning,” and sings the Bryant school spirit song every night. As a White parent, I am so glad my son has classmates from so many different socioeconomic backgrounds and ethnicities. When we moved to Ann Arbor to one of the expensive neighborhoods I was shocked that parents would choose another school rather then gift their kids the opportunity to go to a neighborhood school that’s so rich in so many ways. This was a few years ago now and I believe very few people in the neighborhood do school of choice.However, if there is a parent who is looking to send their kid to Bryant, I can think of only one family out of the 15-20 I know from my neighborhood who chose school of choice last year. These 15-20 families all absolutely love Bryant and these are the types of parents who are very educated and the school that their kids go to must be top-notch, which Bryant certainly is.
