6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a former student of this school i do not recommend this school or at least right now this school was built in 1957 when i walk into the cafeteria on the wall near the doors i see 5-9 awards but that means nothing just a plastic poster with a year and how well the school did on that year its really impressive how good they kept the school saying it has lasted like 75 years with no rebuilding i really hope i was born 7-8 years later so i could go to the new building the building itself is just old saying how long ago it was built maybe your child is in 2st grade well maybe go to this school if your child is in 5st grade in 2021 dont suggest going right now choose another school this place is way to crowded with the old building and that's why i said if you or your child is 2nd or lower by that time they are in 5-7th they would have built the new design with bigger student capacity and space to learn the teachers are good its just if you listen or if you really want to learn as a person that Procrastinate when i can it sure isnt good but i sure did learn a lot just paying attention and turning in work the school sure does have a lot of feild but they did not design it properly most common sport is just frisbee looking at the plans of them making a two floor school that could save a lot of space and expand more for students to learn i really think if your child is going to turn 6th grade in fall of 2025 then try putting them in this school with the teachers that stuck with this school for more than 10 years of teaching the same thing and a new design that could fit more students i really think they could get 2-20 more plastic posters with another 64ish years of opening wish you luck on how you choose your childs school just hope you dont put your child in this school from 2021-2024 because its already crowded and how much portables they had to put out around the school to have place for students to learn school board did rearrange some people to go to other schools because of the overcrowded school i really just hate how it took them 64ish years and now they are planning on rebuilding with the councils pending on signing the "landmark structure" they really care more about keeping old buildings then how much quality the students will learn when staying in the building good thing they are not being cheap this time and having a 152.5M dollars budget wish you and your child the best and hope you find a good school for them to be eduacted inOther Review2y ago - Franklin High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe were worried that our teen, coming from a small private school, would have difficulties at such a large, diverse high school. Franklin High was the best choice we ever could have made. Our teen is getting more from the experience at Franklin than we ever dreamed. The kids are great, welcoming, tolerant, fun, and even polite to adults (I always appreciate that). The academics are challenging and prepare students well, as our teen's PSAT scores would attest. AP and honors classes make for lots of homework, but there is also plenty of fun happening too. Our teen is stronger, smarter, and happier because she goes to Franklin. There is not a bunch of privileged, entitled kids expecting everything to be handed to them, judging others who have less. It's a good place to be.Parent Review9y ago - Hawthorne Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe 1 out of 10 rating on this site makes me think the site's entire methodology is cheap, easy, and suspect. My son attends Kindergarten at Hawthorne, and came in with an average skill level. He tests above average for first graders. He's a year ahead, in other words, and just blossoming beyond belief. Not bad for a couple months at a "1 out of 10" school. The PTA is energized and involved, they have funding for arts (choir and visual art), and the teachers collaborate and act like a team more convincingly than other schools we toured (including private schools). But the #1 reason to send your child to Hawthorne? The world doesn't look like the lunchroom at the schools on this site rated 10/10. The world looks like Hawthorne's lunchroom. If you want your child to excel academically AND see the world as it is (instead of from the inside of a bubble), send them to Hawthorne, and ignore this lazy site's simplistic rating methodology. It appears to have slapped a bunch of pretty window dressing on a tiny slice of real information.Parent Review10y ago - Check out schools near 4700 31st Ave S #C4.

"There is way more foot traffic do to this kind of kept up trail from the parks dpt. Crime has gone up. Almost every neighbor has had their car broken into or attempted force entry and people still treat it like a garbage dump."

"Location does not get better than this. A couple of minutes walk from the hub of Columbia City, restaurants, shops, coffee, and the farmers market!!! Just a few blocks from the light rail station, an easy bus ride to everywhere. One of the most vibrant and diverse neighborhoods in the city!"

"Small town feel with metro culture. Light rail makes downtown commuting and weekend symphony utterly accessible, while small town activities like the community chior, a laid-back running club, bi-lingual playgroups, and potluck sunday brunches give this neighborhood its unique vibe. Go winetasting, buy birthday gifts, catch a kids football game and pick up freshly made tamales on the walk home or dine at any of the local restaurants then enjoy a live jazz performance while the kids hit the cinema. Hike local trails or cruise along the lake and be sure to stop by the local co-op for fresh, local, and organic foods. Kids, adults and seniors alike can also enjoy activities sponsored by BikeWorks and the Rainier Valley Community Center. "
