3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was a substitute teacher for one day at Burbank. I substituted for a special ed teacher and was not given any direction whatsoever. At first, I was not given the name of the teacher I was subbing for then I was sent to the wrong classroom. After that, I was given confusing and unspecific directions that did not correlate with the usual plans. I am not surprised to learn that this school has an overall rating of 3/10, it only goes to show the lack of academic ability the student's possess.Other Review1mo ago - Perkins Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur student is graduating this year and I am very appreciative for all that the school has done. Yes, the counselor was never available, the school is huge, sometimes sitting outside waiting for our student to get out, seeing the many students coming out, I realize that these teachers have a very important and surely challenging job. These young people are being prepared for their future, and many may not even really want to be in school all of the time. There are these social media challenges where some break bathrooms and do other damage to the school building, that is unfortunate and happens at schools everywhere, but I hold the parents responsible for that. Teachers especially after the pandemic have faced many challenges, making up lost time, helping those who suffered through the lockdown, I can't forget that these teachers also have a private life, also had their challenges during the lockdown. I just know our student had a good experience with online school, often leaving her room laughing about a class where they had fun doing online learning, yet the isolation weighed heavy on most of them. We send our children to school and expect so much, take it all for granted, but I thank the teachers from the bottom of my heart and hope that we as a society start to recognize how important that profession is. They are all deserving of our respect and gratitude. Thank you San Diego High IS for all you did for our student to now move on to college. She hated the AVID classes but I loved what she learned there, thank you!Parent Review2y ago - San Diego Business

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have to give this school a low rating even though my son attends. This may be his first and last year here. There is hardly any parent, principal involvement, afterschool activities (compared to the other SDHS-or even some of the other schools in the district that we visited), and it s hard to even reach anyone during the school hours. There are a few teachers who are in it to win it; but I sat in on one of my son s classes and the poor business teacher was being walked all over. How can they teach leadership skills when they can't control their class? It was hard for me to watch! This is one of the low performing schools and it shows in the leadership down to the test scores.Parent Review14y ago - San Diego Science and Technology School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son is a senior. He did the last 18 months virtually, and went back to in person class 2 weeks ago. The virtual classes were a joke, the fact that the school district doesn’t mail grades home “because of COVID-19 “ even more so. This week, my son has been home sick. I have called DAILY to report him absent, and to request assistance getting a COVID test. Every afternoon at 5:30, I receive 3 calls, one from each of the “schools” at the San Diego High campus, to report the unexcused absence. NO ONE has returned my phone calls, and the school principal has not returned my email. This has pretty much been my experience all 4 years. If you can afford private school, do not send your child to a San Diego Unified high school.Parent Review2y ago - Check out schools near 35 19th St.

"You need a big scary dog so people don’t come into your yard. Don’t let your dog out because there are other big dogs that get out and will attack your dog. Be careful walking your dog in this neighborhood."

"It’s really quiet in the daily basis but, when people have parties are really noisy and stay up late until next day sometimes. "

"I had been living in this neighborhood for 5 years, and I think it’s better as the old neighbor. In the 90’ it was to difficult to walk on the neighbor, but now is nice and better. There is a lot of properties to remodeling, so probably in a few years it will be improve the streets and houses. The most that I like in this neighborhood is that I have a lot of freeways to take, and a lot of busses and trolley lines."

"There’s always hit and runs. All cars that live here should have full coverage because drivers are irresponsible."

"The Mayor of San Diego has really cleaned this town up! Most of the neighbors are home owners and really care about keeping their property looking good and the yards pretty and well maintained. It is a mixed race community, a lot of different cultures make it fun to talk to your neighbors and have BBQ's and garden parties. Americans originally from Mexico, Italy, Poland, Germany, and Ireland. Those are the neighbors I know and have eaten with. Very cool community. "

"Nothing. However, it has recently gone and is continue to go through a lot of development. The locals are a mixture of military family, and long time residence. "

"This is an affordable area for first time buyers who wish to buy their first home or return to their Family neighborhood and engage in the change that they want to see. I am blessed to return after 30+ years to the Logan Heights Community. I interact with my neighbors in this family orientated community and feel safe. It's an old neighborhood, bursting with possibilities and hidden charm from years past. Our family home was built in 1925 and my grandparents bought it in 1945 and it's been in our family ever since. I came back home and I am so glad I did. There is no other place I would rather be because the charm never left Logan Heights."

"Hispanic community with friendly people. Nice Mexican restaurants and it has a nice view of downtown any street that you go."
