"You need a big scary dog so people don’t come into your yard. Don’t let your dog out because there are other big dogs that get out and will attack your dog. Be careful walking your dog in this neighborhood."

"I had been living in this neighborhood for 5 years, and I think it’s better as the old neighbor. In the 90’ it was to difficult to walk on the neighbor, but now is nice and better. There is a lot of properties to remodeling, so probably in a few years it will be improve the streets and houses. The most that I like in this neighborhood is that I have a lot of freeways to take, and a lot of busses and trolley lines."

"There’s always hit and runs. All cars that live here should have full coverage because drivers are irresponsible."

"The Mayor of San Diego has really cleaned this town up! Most of the neighbors are home owners and really care about keeping their property looking good and the yards pretty and well maintained. It is a mixed race community, a lot of different cultures make it fun to talk to your neighbors and have BBQ's and garden parties. Americans originally from Mexico, Italy, Poland, Germany, and Ireland. Those are the neighbors I know and have eaten with. Very cool community. "

"Nothing. However, it has recently gone and is continue to go through a lot of development. The locals are a mixture of military family, and long time residence. "

"This is an affordable area for first time buyers who wish to buy their first home or return to their Family neighborhood and engage in the change that they want to see. I am blessed to return after 30+ years to the Logan Heights Community. I interact with my neighbors in this family orientated community and feel safe. It's an old neighborhood, bursting with possibilities and hidden charm from years past. Our family home was built in 1925 and my grandparents bought it in 1945 and it's been in our family ever since. I came back home and I am so glad I did. There is no other place I would rather be because the charm never left Logan Heights."

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMixed Experience – Ultimately Had to TransferMy experience with Burbank Elementary was mixed. While there are some caring staff members, serious issues led me to transfer my child.During a classroom observation, I saw the 1st-grade teacher snap at a student who asked to use the restroom. Moments later, she allowed another student to go without asking properly. When my son, who has special needs and was already distressed, began crying, she responded by yelling at the class to ignore him and threatened to punish students who tried to comfort him. She even told my son that if he didn’t sit down, I (his parent) would have to leave. It was deeply upsetting.I brought this to the principal, but he smiled through our conversation and dismissed my concerns. When I asked to switch my son to a different class—even to a Spanish/English class—I was told the teacher had “drawn the short straw” and would remain. There were no other options, so I had to transfer schools. On a positive note, the school nurse was wonderful and attentive to my child’s medical needs. His kindergarten teacher was also amazing and genuinely cared—her departure was a big loss.Unfortunately, the special education team did not accurately track my son’s progress. At his new school, a reassessment revealed he had not met several goals that were marked “complete” on his IEP.The school grounds inside are clean, but the outside often had trash, dog waste, and overgrown grass. Pickup and drop-off traffic was chaotic and felt unsafe.Burbank has potential, but it needs better leadership, classroom support, and accountability—especially for students with special needs.Parent Review11mo ago9 Reviews - King-Chavez Academy Of Excellence

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageKing Chavez Academy of Excellence has been a truly wonderful school. The staff is incredibly supportive, caring, and attentive, especially when it comes to accommodating health needs and creating the right environment for students to thrive. One of my favorite things about this school is the strong sense of community. Every staff member—from the front office to the playground team—knows each child by name. It creates such a warm, welcoming atmosphere where students feel seen, valued, and supported.I’m grateful for the dedication, patience, and genuine care shown every day. King Chavez Academy of Excellence is a school that truly prioritizes its students, and I highly recommend it to any family looking for a compassionate and nurturing learning environment.Parent Review5mo ago28 Reviews - Rodriguez Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a staff member at this school. We are a new school and growing a lot of programs, but we have a very dedicated group of teachers that are continually increasing the rigor and options for students. In a few short years of being open we have improved our rates of students reaching standards, improved attendance, improved the number of weighted courses, increased community partnerships while decreasing student behavior concerns and suspension rates dramatically.Principal Review6mo ago1 Reviews
