6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageExperience: My two children, attending from Kindergarten through 5th Grade, have had vastly different experiences at CMES, largely impacted by the high turnover of teachers. The larger-than-ideal class sizes, particularly in 5th grade with over 30 students per teacher, severely hinder personalized learning. This situation is exacerbated by the inclusion of students with behavioral challenges in regular classrooms, often distracting others and further diluting the teacher's attention.Quality: The quality of teaching at CMES is inconsistent, primarily due to the frequent replacement of experienced teachers. This instability impacts the educational environment, with many students struggling to keep pace. The integration of digital tools like Schoology, alongside traditional methods, has not been seamless, often leaving parents confused about current grades and school updates.Support: The school's approach to handling bullying and social conflicts has been inadequate. Despite efforts to communicate with both teachers and administrators, resolutions have been unsatisfactory, indicating a need for better social-emotional support and conflict resolution strategies within the school.Special Education: There is a noticeable lack of individualized attention and support for students with special needs. This area is understaffed, like other classrooms.Safety: Safety concerns are significant, particularly during drop-off and pick-up times. The school's location and inadequate infrastructure lead to dangerous traffic congestion, with many parents resorting to dropping their children off across a busy street. While a crossing guard is present, the situation remains perilous, especially at a poorly designed crosswalk.Family Engagement: The PTA is commendable in its efforts and seems to be a primary driving force in organizing school events and advocating for improvements. However, broader parent engagement and advocacy are required to address the systemic issues the school faces. Our Experience / Recommendation: Given the current conditions, I would seriously consider alternative schooling options. CMES is struggling with essential aspects of education, including teaching quality, resource allocation, and maintaining a conducive learning environment. Increased investment in teacher retention, class size management, and safety infrastructure is imperative for the school to meet basic educational standards.Parent Review2y ago1 Reviews - Tuscarora High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI’m a disabled senior at Tuscarora currently and have been having a lot of issues. With my disabilities I can barely access school and have been discriminated against for the last 4 years. They refused to give me an emergency evacuation plan for me since I am semi-wheelchair bound and cannot use the stairs to leave the building until we got the fire chief involved. I’ve been told that I should move to HHT (home hospitalized teaching) because they didn’t want to handle my issues. I’ve had a teacher quite literally take my wheelchair and tell me to stop faking being disabled. This school is friendly for able bodied people and people who don’t have mental issues, but for people like me who are physically and mentally disabled they treat us horribly. I would never recommend this school because there are far more issues than the ones I’ve listed.Student Review2y ago8 Reviews - Ballenger Creek Middle School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter did a ICE protest walk out today and their administration said they will not get any consequences as long as they stay on school grounds. And the administration proceeded to say why they were doing the walkout that they could only stay in this certain area even though it was very well much inside and there was a lot of other ground still inside the schools property.they gave other students after school detentions for still staying on school grounds, but not in the area. And I don’t think that it’s fair because they have a speech of freedom. And obviously the school does not want them to use their rights.Parent Review2mo ago20 Reviews - Check out schools near 341 Patterson St.

"I’ve lived here for over 10 years it’s pretty quiet most of the time and most people keep to themselves. Down side is that there’s nothing to do here so it gets pretty boring."

"I don’t know. Just make sure your dog is on a leash. Not all dogs are friendly. And you don’t know what your dog is really capable of around strangers and other dogs. "

"It’s a very safe neighborhood, there’s lots of parks I just find it can be hard to find a lot of kid and teen spaces. I’d recommend making sure your teen has a license I see this as a place to live with young kids!"

"Neighborhood is very dog friendly. People are constantly walking dogs of all sizes and breeds. We have a 100 pound Rottweiler and have no issues walking her in the neighborhood. Everyone is good about adhering to the leash laws. For the most part, people are good about cleaning up after their dog."

"That people respect each other spaces on the sidewalks, but there is a problem with picking up at the pets. Even though there are receptacles with bags and then hang on waste area for them to put them in, so no need to be lazy."
