Sutton has made incredible strides towards excellence over the past few years. We are so proud to be a Sutton Cougar family. We believe it is so important to invest in your local neighborhood school, it benefits everyone. One of the elements that makes this school so special is the parent involvement in the school. It have built great Sutton community. This middle school is working it's way to be one of the top schools in Buckhead.

Our son went to kindergarten for the 2023/24 school year. I wanted to try it first since it was the local neighborhood school before we made a decision on private. Overall, it was very average. There is definitely a strong culture at the school to make learning exciting- I feel like it comes mainly from a group of highly involved parents who donate their time. The administration is okay- there is regular communication about events going on, etc. and I think they’re vested in fostering a strong school community. The teachers are so/so- your classroom experience depends on which one you get. My child was not in the dual emersion language program, and looking back I think I made a mistake not enrolling him. It appeared the students in that program did not experience some of the behavioral issues that were in the general ed classrooms. I can’t speak to the intermediate school, but the primary school facilities are old and past their prime. My overall take is that this school was once a great school that enrolled neighborhood kids. It is now an average school at best.

As a current senior at North Atlanta High School, I can confidently say that this school has been one of the most discouraging parts of my educational experience. The environment is not just unsupportive—it often feels actively hostile. Many of the staff and faculty members seem more focused on exerting power over students than actually helping us learn or grow. It’s as if being in a position of authority makes them feel entitled to disrespect and disregard the people they’re supposed to be guiding.Students are often treated more like prisoners than learners. Simple things that could make the school day more manageable—like allowing us to listen to music—are outright banned, despite how helpful they can be for mental health and focus. Speaking of mental health, there is little to no real support in that area, and the culture here only makes things worse.Basic systems like carpool and bus loop management are incredibly inefficient, showing a lack of planning and problem-solving from the people in charge. It feels like the adults running this school are out of touch and unbothered by how their decisions affect students.If you have the resources to do so, I strongly recommend sending your child to a private school like Westminster or any place that values student well-being. I’ve spent almost four years here and never once felt truly supported or seen by the staff. It’s clear that many of them are more interested in enforcing rules and “winning” power struggles than they are in teaching, mentoring, or supporting students.North Atlanta High School could be so much better—but it would require a massive shift in culture, leadership, and priorities. Until then, I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.
