Smith Elementary School

I had two students go through GHES, one K-5th and one Prek-5th. Both of my kids had a fantastic experience here. My oldest is now a senior and doing great. My youngest is in middle school and excelling. The youngest got to do the Spanish DLI program, and she has learned so much! If you have concerns, go tour the school. I don't believe 5/10 is an accurate representation of this beautiful learning community.

We have had 3 children at the school since 2019 and couldn't be happier. Our son is about to graduate and his IB experience and education has put him at a huge advantage with college applications. The language programs add such a valuable additional dimension to their education and the cultural exposure due to the amazing international community has been uniquely enriching. I don't know another school in Atlanta where they try so hard to be inclusive and welcoming to everyone. The teachers are dedicated to the students and the school is very supportive at all points. It is an innovative and highly creative environment where kids learn in ways the develop their whole selves. As a newer private school in Atlanta, 40 years old rather than 100, there is still a lot of building to be done which means parents and the community are needed to lean in and support the school's growth. This makes it an exciting school to be part of rather than just joining the ATL establishment. It's not perfect, no where is, but it's a great school.

Given the tuition, I find it odd that the high school art teacher lacks a biography, a college degree or a resume. What does this tell you?

Galloway is amazing. We visited numerous private schools in the Atlanta area before choosing Galloway. The teaching methods are incredible, they push "experiential learning", so learning is ALWAYS taking place, whether on the playground or in the classroom. The vibe is so welcoming and laid back, none of the snobbery of some of the other top private schools. I hope our little one will stay until she graduates from high school!

I have loved my time with DVIS. Since we first entered the school in 2016 to now I have felt that DVIS is a nurturing environment for my kids. Both of my kids started at 18 months there. What I think DVIS does so well is teach kids to their level and make learning fun. My kids loved going to school and I credit DVIS for instilling the love of learning and a sense of worldly community to the kids. I truly was blown away by the projects, vocabulary and reading comprehension my kids were exposed too. Our children have made friends and learned different cultures from DVIS too. Soraya ( the school's director) makes herself available around the clock even after school hours as needed. She cares about the children and it shows. I love the trilingual program DVIS offers. My children are fascinated with languages and want to learn more! I can't say enough good things about DVIS. If you are looking for a worldly and caring environment for your kinds that is full of diversity and uniqueness this is the place for you.
