This a school for bullies and kids that are kicked out of other schools. The principal during the 2025-2026 school year is the absolute worst administrator for this school. She cannot handle this place. She hides in the office and lets the deans handle the work- she sees herself as more of a facilities manager. The kids in sports have free rein to harass the other kids and have brought back the racism and homophobia of times past. They freely vape and bully with no consequences from Sanford, because it’s really important for them to have 8th graders on Roosevelt High School sports teams. It’s not a privilege reserved for high-performing mature kids- quite the opposite. The teachers here didn’t even hide their disdain for how the school is run- many tried to leave after the 2026 school year, and big congrats to those that found other jobs. The teachers are the only bright spot in this miserable hole of trauma. If you have any other opportunity to attend any other middle school, please do that because this school will ruin your kid.

I am terribly sad to leave such a scathing (but accurate) review because there ARE some wonderful teachers here who go above and beyond for their students. However when yr 7 yr old is put on the wrong bus and ends up lost in DT Mnpls for 2 hrs on the very first day and things just get WORSE after that...Bottom line I didn’t feel safe with her there, she didn’t feel safe there and developed intense anxiety and even her academics took a serious turn for the worse within just ONE yr (after a great Kindergarten & 1st Grade experience.) NOTHING was really done reg the transportation safety concerns and it took at least 6 months to have anything remotely done regarding the bullying (which then was just circumvented to different classrooms.) I tried very hard to have my concerns heard and I got nodding heads & pats on the back but no one truly cared. It was a terribly sad experience after such high hopes.
