About this House

Tucked into a serene and peaceful setting in South Freeport, Frog Pond Cottage is a newly built home that is full of charm and comforts. True to its name, there is a frog pond outside the door and there is something special about waking up to their gentle conversations. There are also ducks and other friendly farm animals that might make a curious appearance during your stay.

If you are seeking a retreat to write a book, study, or just be in a quiet space, Frog Pond Cottage is an ideal match for you. We recommend a stay here for a couple or for one on a solo adventure for a month or more.

Construction was completed in July 2025 and the owners put a lot of thought into creating a space that allows for all you need on vacation. The open concept ground floor is immediately welcoming with whitewashed walls, wide pine floors and a vaulted ceiling that gives an airy and spacious energy. Exposed wooden beams add a rustic warmth and authenticity to the space.

The main living area has two couches and a rocking chair plus reading lamps. There is high-speed WiFi and a Smart TV so you can log-in to your favorite streaming apps.

For those who love to cook, there is a fully equipped kitchen including a refrigerator, coffee maker and oven plus serveware for four. Enjoy your meals at the green vintage dining table that seats four or eat al fresco on the porch.

The full bathroom has a tub, shower and a vanity to store all of your personal items out of sight. Plush towels (and rubber ducks!) are included.

Also on the ground level is the sleeping space with a queen sized bed made with luscious linens behind a wooden privacy screen. The bedroom has two windows that have wooden shutters for light and breeze control. There is a bureau for clothing storage. Please note the bedroom is partially private from the living space and has no door.

On the second floor is a loft with a desk and couch. This open space is perfect for a home office or yoga space.
There are two entrances into the cottage; one off the deck overlooking the pond and a second that comes into a mud and coat area.

Although you are away from the bustle of Freeport Village, you can be amongst the shops, restaurants and sights in under a ten minute drive. In about 20-minutes, you can be in downtown Portland. Much closer are walking and biking trails, beaches and South Freeport Market to stock up on locally made provisions.

Please note that the owners live on the grounds and will be available for any questions or will give you all the privacy you need.
