"Quite peaceful except for some big bikes w/open mufflers and a few cars dragging at night."
  • Tdts7m4tpb
"Peaceful before but starting to be annoying bcoz of loud vehicles engine."
  • Cedrickg
"Farmers markets and events at lake merrit. Amongst bars and restaurants and a vining downtown and uptown area"
  • Sarah C.
"You have the option to walk/run on level or inclined sidewalks and Lake Merritt is a short walk away!"
  • Morgan F.
"Lots of great walks and close to the lake! Hills to exercise your dog when walking around the block "
  • Michael M.
"I think dog owners would like to see a dog park around the lake. They probably would like to have a place so there dogs can run down to the lake and itโ€™s fenced off from the people and kids."
  • Sean T.
"Aside from Lake Merritt it's a pretty urban place. not necessarily a spot with a ton of open space for animals. "
  • Morgan
"Plenty of hills to wear your dog out! Close to the lake for nice walks through the park. Local businesses are dog friendly also."
  • Michael M.
"They would like the long hilly blocks in the neighborhood and access to parks trails and the lake trails. Also the pet stores and pet clinic."
  • Jeremyj82
"Close to FairyLand. Never see kids without parents in this community. These buildings are old so itโ€™s a challenge for noise pollution. Also is close to a park on grand. "
  • Jeremyj82
"I can walk downtown to work in about 35 minutes. Everything here is in walking distance. Food, parks, gym, entertainment, etc."
  • Gordon J.
"walkability to groceries, coffee shops, restaurants and the Lake. easy access to transportation, Whole Foods and local wine shops."
  • Kevinkane87
"I have a very easy under 15 minute drive to Emeryville and drop my fiancรฉ off at 19th street Bart on the way. "
  • Jasminenallen
"I donโ€™t know this area, but have heard about it, and think it is gorgeous. It has a great crime rating"
  • Due2gatti
"Still a lot of crime in the neighborhood. Theft and assaults. Parking is extremely difficult. Too many people. "
  • Nzfreeman 4. c.
"nice neighborhood. Poor on street parking options, gentrification galore makes it not as cool as it used to be. Big property management companies moving out long term residents making it SF East."
  • Laura H.
"The lake is a great place to take kids or pets."
  • Laura H.
"The NL bus goes to and from San Francisco through downtown Oakland."
  • Lisa T.
"The 19th Street BART station is a 20-minute walk from my place, and from there it's just a 15-minute ride into the city. Lots of trains pass through this station, so you don't need to bother checking the scheduleโ€”you can just show up."
  • Bob S.
"Commuting is easy. There are BART stations nearby as well as easy bus access."
  • Lisa T.
"The residential streets have a mix of single-family homes and apartment buildings, including a lot of really grand apartment buildings from the early 20th century. From here, it's a quick walk down to Lake Merritt for a run, and to the shops and restaurants on Grand and Lakeshore. This area has come up a lot in the last few years, and from here it's also an easy walk to Uptown, downtown, and Piedmont Ave. So there's plenty to do.ย "
  • Laura H.
"It's a lovely residential neighborhood near the lake. It's also near Grand Ave and Lakeshore Ave, which have great restaurants."
  • Mo H.
"It's mostly houses and apartments and is undergoing a slow gentrification process. It's perched on a hill, so there are some lake views. There are no shops in Adams Point itselfโ€”you need to go down to the lake."
  • Bob S.
"The sense of community is terrific. Lake Merritt is nearby, plus lots of great food. It's a great location. The dragon boat races on Lake Merritt are not to be missedโ€”lots of colorful handmade canoes compete against each other."
  • Bob S.
"The lake is safe to visit during the day, and Fairyland is a great kid-friendly place to visit. It's an amusement park for small children. Lots of puppet shows, interesting buildings to explore, and areas for kids to be kids."
  • Lisa T.
"Oakland's public schools are spotty. Look into where your kid would be placed and find out how the school is. The park at Lake Merritt is lovely, but is also overrun with Canada geese, which poop prodigiously. I wouldn't let my toddler roam around here for that reason. But Children's Fairyland in the park is a real Bay Area treasureโ€”it's a simple little amusement park for young kids, and they say that it inspired Walt Disney to create Disneyland!"
  • Mo H.
"No schools nearby. The last one was decommissioned. There is a Montessori."
  • Nzfreeman 4. c.
"nice area, terrible parking. lots of restaurants, trendy, close to Bart, wish there were more families but oh well."
