Read what parents are saying about Piedmont Avenue Elementary SchoolOverall our experience at this school has been good and we are just wrapping up 3rd grade in the school. The teachers in the lower grades are fantastic. Our daughter is a focused and interested student so we have had no problems. I do worry that children who are less so, might not get the extra support they need.
Posted by a parent on 5/10/2019I love Piedmont Avenue School. My son is in Kindergarden here, and he is doing so well! I love that they have computer, art and science. Even in kidnergarden! With all the cut backs I am happy to see they still have a full computer lab for the kids. Parents really get involved. The teachers really care. Ms. Drake is absolutely the best!
Posted by a parent on 1/29/2014My daughter is in kindergarten in this school. I would like to share my happiness with all the parents about the progress made in piedmont elementary school. This progress is a result of a hard work of the principal, teachers and every one who is willing to make our school the best. For you, undecided parents,I believe that piedmont elementary school is the best choice for your kids.
Posted by a parent on 10/23/2012I am a parent of a first grader at Piedmont Ave Elementary School. My son started here in Kindergarten and we have LOVED this school from the beginning! The principal is AMAZING! The teachers care tremendously about their work and their kids. It is a diverse and sweet group of families and the PTA does a huge amount in support of the kids and their learning and enrichment. Last year's star testing scores soared! We grew 12% in math, 6% in English Language Arts and 10% in Science. The API will be calculated soon, I can't wait to see what it has increased to. If this is your neighborhood school, PLEASE look at it seriously and thoroughly. Speak with Mrs Ahmad, the principal, the teachers and parents and you will know you have found a wonderful school for your kids and families. But most of all, no matter where you end up, GET INVOLVED! It will make all the difference in the world to your community and to your child's education!
Posted by a parent on 9/14/2012My son was new here last year. As an entering 4th grader making friends and navigating a new environment was only one of the challenges we faced at the beginning of the year. Also, we had tried to get him an IEP assessment at other schools with little to no success. But, he made friends, had a great experience with his teacher AND we got the IEP all finished. Considering the budget stresses of OUSD and the struggle to get more parents involved PAES rises above the challenges. The Principal got a grant for a brand new computer lab the yer before we got there, there is science, art and field trips. My son got to go to Mosaic camp last year and he loved it and learned so much. Some of the other parents have mentioned diversity; its true, PAES has no shortage of cultural, racial, or socioeconomic diversity. The school has an inclusive approach to addressing all the children's differences. We are so lucky our neighborhood school didn't have room for an entering 4th grader. We love PAES!

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI came on to Great Schools to give accolades and share some of the wonderful experiences that I’ve had at Saint Leo Great School after being a parent for almost two decades. My journey began at Saint Leo’s with my eldest daughter who is currently in her third year of college, I also have my youngest daughter who is in middle school. I figured now is the time when parents are searching for good schools to send their children to. My goal is to make sure they know what an awesome School Saint Leo is.If you're looking for a school where your child will excel academically, emotionally, and socially, Saint Leo’s is the place. Saint Leo’s offers an outstanding faith-based community of parents, students, teachers, and faculty members, you will feel it the moment you set foot on campus. The older students are very caring of the younger ones and the teachers and administration are like family. The dedication and time that the teachers pour into their students and education are honorable, as shown by the many years they have chosen to stay and maintain continuity for the children who attend. Let me not forget to mention that Saint Leo’s offers a plethora of enrichment programs, from Music & Choir classes, art & robotics workshops, praise dance, and summer camps, also an exceptionally successful athletic program where every student is able to join, no matter what their skill level is.Creating a good reliable foundation for my daughters is important to me. Being able to send my girls to Saint Leo’s for all these years is a true blessing. I’ve enjoyed being a parent here and love all of the beautiful long-lasting relationships my children and I have made with other families. It’s been heart-warming to watch many kids over the years from pre-k ( yes they have a pre-k program too!) to 8th gr. move on to some of the best high schools in the bay area. Moreover, because of the close niche community, I’ve also been able to see the same children attend prestigious colleges and universities such as Howard, Spelman, UCLA, Yale, and Cal Berkeley just to name a few. For any child to succeed, it can’t be one-sided, it takes a village to raise a child. Mrs. Simril the principal has done an excellent job leading the school, she’s very knowledgeable and maintains a high level of professionalism, and so does the administrative team. Overall, Saint Leo’s is a great school. The success of the school has already been written and the school continues to do very well in all aspects.Parent Review1y ago
