Description

A Millwork Masterpiece, this very special Belle Sherman home blends Arts & Crafts/Craftsman design with Tudor Revival structural motifs. The exterior features architectural distinction of period details including brick masonry, stucco, decorative half-timbering accented with copper roofing over the bay windows, along with an attached two-car garage & attractive local stone walkways and hardscaping. Inside, the timeless elegance of the original millwork showcases a hammered-adzed wood texture, a carved entry arch, & a paneled vestibule. The home offers four bedrooms, two full baths, & a half bath, with a mix of hardwood, slate & ceramic tile flooring throughout. The large living room is centered on a wood-burning fireplace with a vintage Tudor-revival mantel & built-in shelving nook, is filled with light from a large south-facing bay window; glass doors open to an expansive private screened patio & gardens beyond. A formal dining room includes built-in corner china cupboards, while the galley-style kitchen features an eat-in bay window dining cove & a service hall with a half bath & garden access. The multi-level floor plan creates a variety of private areas throughout the home. Period details remain in the hall bath, which retains its extraordinary original large format green glass tile, porcelain fixtures, & flooring. Two second-level bedrooms, each with exterior doors are set off a private hall. The upper level features the primary bedroom with its original multi-closet dressing room, along with another bedroom or office sharing a Jack-and-Jill bath. Descending to the lower level feels like stepping into the landscape itself, as a beautifully painted mountain scene unfolds along the stairway, guiding you from the upper floor to the landing and below where you will find a spacious rec room centered on another wood-burning fireplace & a wall of built-in bookcases, along with the laundry area. All windows have been replaced with period-appropriate energy-efficient units, the home also features a new high-efficiency furnace & central air conditioning. Sellers reserve the right to set an offer review period. Home Inspection available. Check out the VIRTUAL TOUR!

  • Trulia User
"Lots of inebriated college students driving short distances around the neighborhoods when they shouldn’t be and overly intoxicated walking by houses shouting/ overly rowdy at all times of the night & early morning."
  • Trulia User
"Dog friendly and family friendly. Close to Northeast Elementary and Dewitt Middle school - I used to walk to school as a kid growing up there. Safe"
  • Trulia User
"Lots of college students partying (loud music, public drinking/intoxication, recreational drug use, etc..)."
  • Trulia User
"I have been living in Cayuga heights for 4 years, love it absolutely. Feel sad to leave such a quiet and beautiful place."
  • Samara G.
"They would like the dog park mostly the skateboard park and the only thing they wouldn’t like is some landlords expect dog deposits and some don’t allow dogs, whether working dog or not."
  • Vanessa H. B.
"I walk to my office, which is around the corner from where I live. I love it! There is public transport, which I would feel good about using if I moved. "
  • Tristan H.
"Public transportation is readily available and accessible by all who live in Cayuga Heights. TCAT busses run very often and go in all directions."
  • Lj279
"It is hard to live here and depend on public transportation. You must have a car for groceries and emergencies. There is no biking path or good side walks. "
  • Mnichols
"I have lived on south hill for 25 years in 2 different homes. It is close to downtown and state park, I can walk to ithaca college and buttermilk falls park in 10 min each."
  • Kurtwright

  • Trulia User
"You see people walking their dogs all the time. The local park is a great asset of the neighborhood. "
  • Joshua P.
"Views, street lights and nature trail. Traffic can get a bit fast, but the road is safe. New bike paths across the bridge are interesting "
  • Paul
"It is a very easy commute to downtown. Slightly more to the colleges. I consider commutes under 15 minutes to be easy though. I know Ithacans complain about traffic at the “octopus”, but that’s only because most of them have never seen traffic."
  • David W.
"Amazing location! I walk 10 blocks to work. Gimme Coffee is on the way. Historic Northside Triangle is the place to be!"
  • Dani932
"The apartments aren't upgraded for the amount you pay on a one-bedroom. The area is quiet and l haven't had any issues living here."
  • Ronald B.
"Semi-rural atmosphere. Lots of walking paths and hiking trails in the area. Our area of Dryden is in the Ithaca School District, whisky is very good."
  • Trulia User
"Beautiful, nice view. The community is looking forward to sidewalks that will help the area become more navigating. The community is nice but not as inviting as some may like."
  • Latoya Peterson
"Landlords don’t except Section 8 assistants. Good luck getting your security deposit back!?! Slum lords own most property here unfortunately."
  • Trulia User
"Access to public transportation a plus. They need to work on installing shoulders on west king road. Commuting is easy"
  • Paul
"I've lived in the area for 13 years. I've lived in Northeast Ithaca specifically for 5 years. Northeast Ithaca is very competitive as far as buying a home. The people are great and Northeast Elementary including the Ithaca City School District is beyond amazing. Northeast Ithaca is close to Cornell University. There are many reasons why homes in in Northeast Ithaca are in high demand."
  • Littlespoon1970
"I have lived here for three years and I feel safe in this neighborhood. People are friendly and it’s in walking distance to the commons and my work at Ithaca High School."
  • Dsevey
