This High School turned out to be such a disappointment as did the Middle School. Many of the teachers are burned out, the students are out of control in classes, which makes it impossible for interested or motivated students. I believe this is a result of poor classroom management skills along with lack of admin support. In the past 5 years there have been 3 superintendents. The HS doesn’t even bother to hire substitutes- the students are just dumped in the cafeteria or auditorium, sometimes for hours. What am I paying exorbitant local taxes for? HPHS used to have a decent though never great reputation. It’s declined in every aspect.

Don’t send your student to this school.

As a school system, I think it is neither particularly good nor bad—just an average school. Compared to the school my child previously attended, the amount and quality of parent volunteer involvement are limited.I decided to write this review because during my time at the school, I observed that although there are many students with special needs and a large number of staff members, there are frequent inappropriate and harsh remarks directed toward children with special needs. While there are a couple of staff members who are genuinely kind and attentive, many of the paraprofessionals sigh, raise their voices saying things like “What are you eating?!”, mutter comments such as “It doesn’t matter anyway because they won’t eat,” or show visible frustration through facial expressions.If my own child had special needs, I would not choose to send them to this school. This is something that cannot be seen during tours or through the school’s website. Knowing that children with special needs may not be able to communicate these experiences to their parents, I find the behavior of some adults deeply disappointing.
