Description
This property is no longer available to rent or to buy. This description is from May 08, 2023
Welcome to 236 Lynhaven Drive, well situated on a cul-de-sac block in the sought after Lynhaven neighborhood of Alexandria. This freshly painted and updated South-facing 3-level rowhouse is filled with gorgeous natural light, loaded with charm and original details, and has been modernly updated and well-maintained over the years. Fall in love with the fully fenced front yard and the sun-drenched front porch with additional storage underneath, and the recently painted brick exterior. Once inside, the main level offers a comfortable living area, dedicated dining space, updated kitchen with newer stainless appliances (2021), hardwood floors, and charming chair rails and wainscoting throughout. The upstairs level provides a primary bedroom with multiple closets, and a true 2nd bedroom, along with an updated shared bath in the hallway. The finished lower level is wide open and creates the perfect space for game and movie nights, a multi-purpose area with space for living and working at the same time, or a private getaway for overnight guests, along with a 2nd full bathroom and exterior door to the rear of the home. The recently painted back deck is elevated above a large partially fenced rear yard and lower patio and storage area, along with off-street parking! Other recent updates include a new washer/dryer and new HVAC (in 2020), and a new roof (in 2018)! Only a short walk to the new Potomac Yard Metro (coming this Summer), and close to Mount Vernon Avenue and all the restaurants, markets, and shops that Del Ray has to offer. With wonderful convenience in and out of DC, easy proximity to Old Town, Pentagon City, and National Landing, and walkability to parks, trails, and playgrounds, this home checks all of the boxes!

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFrom firsthand knowledge, it is regrettable to report that George Washington Middle School is grappling with significant challenges. The school's environment, instead of fostering learning and development, is often dominated by unruly and occasionally violent behavior. The administration, tasked with managing these issues, appears to provide insufficient support to teachers to address these challenges effectively. Their unresponsiveness not only intensifies the burden on those dealing with these behavioral problems daily but also significantly hinders the overall learning process. Moreover, the school faces additional systemic issues. The misuse of electronic devices, insufficient interdisciplinary collaboration among teachers, and a flawed approach to student recognition all contribute to a disheartening environment that calls for decisive intervention and transformation. One issue that merits particular attention is the handling of the honors program. What should be an emblem of academic achievement has become disappointingly disconnected from genuine merit. The school's (and ACPS's) focus on critical race theory seems to have driven this shift, leading to a disturbing trend of recognizing underachievement and distorting the true purpose of the honors program. Instead of distinguishing high-achieving students, it appears that virtually anyone can be designated an honors student, thus undermining the program's credibility and devaluing the accomplishments of truly deserving students. In light of the existing challenges, George Washington Middle School may benefit from an external intervention by the state. A comprehensive transformation focusing on reestablishing discipline, educational excellence, and genuine merit-based recognition is urgently needed.Put plainly, the situation at George Washington Middle School is a cause for concern. As someone intimately familiar with the school's inner workings, it is my hope that bringing these issues to light will help trigger the necessary reforms. This is a critical step in ensuring that the school can fulfill its central role in educating and preparing our future generations.Other Review9mo ago - Check out schools near 236 Lynhaven Dr.
