UPDATE, March 2012: Added a full bedroom to the basement.
This is a neo-traditional colonial -- it's a good sized house (3,300 sq. ft.) for a family of 4+. It's supposed to have a really tiny yard, but we bought a bit of extra space, so the lot at .17 ac is as big as most of the colonials in the community -- with plenty of room for soccer with the kids. The main difference from a regular colonial is that my garage is detached. Otherwise, the house is very similar to a traditional colonial. Family, dining, study, and kitchen downstairs; bedrooms upstairs; finished basement w/extra full bedroom (new in 2012) and full bath; light-filled sunroom on first floor.
Neighborhood Description
March 2012 -- More folks have moved into the neighborhood over the past year, and I'm pleased to say this is still a lovely little community tucked away amongst the farms, with a great group of very close neighbors. The number of elementary kids in this community almost fills the Yellow Springs bus (Yellow Springs, by the way, is still a *fabulous* school). The fields have been installed in the community, along with some walking paths. Shopping has expanded with the addition of Lowe's, Wegman's, and bunch of other new stores along Liberty Rd. The main Tuscarora Creek community seems to be progressing as well, and Walter Martz (the road approaching Tuscarora Creek) is being redone with a new bridge over the bridge.
Jan 2011 -- after living in Cannon Bluff for a couple of years now, we're happy to report that the neighbors are still very nice folks, it's quiet, and a very easy place to live. Lowe's and Wegman's are being built about 5 minutes away, which is awesome, and it seems that Ryan is continuing with selling in the community after a bit of a hiatus while the ecomomy was bad. Yellow Springs elementary has turned out to be a fabulous school. The kids are happy and well-adjusted. We're hoping that the ball fields are completed this year.
NOV 2009 -- Well, it's still very new, but it's a community of single family homes (colonials and neo-traditional) nestled into a little valley north of Frederick City. It's surrounded by farmland, but inside the city limits, with views of the catoctin mountains. Construction is still taking place at a rather slow pace (as of 10/2009), but the neighbors that have already moved in seem to be a nice bunch. Lots of kids and plenty of room to play.
